the United Nations

Hey peeps,

I am starting to uncover my political conscious, I am reading Global Showdown right now, and I am blown away by reading how the UN is turning into a puppet for corporations. Much of the policy it abides by is heavily influenced by the rich, and ever since the Seattle riots, these corporations have been making friendly with Kofi Annan and the UN to increase their public image. What are your thoughts on the matter???

Yeah the UN is imperialist alright. Evil imperialists with sky blue helmets and white armored vehichles.

I also read that the UN has become partners with various very dubious companies.
They have closed a partnership with a UK mining company which has mines in south-america.
This Uk mining company has violated most basic rights given to labourers. Very unsafe working conditions, filthy working conditions, etc.
Also they have violated many environemental laws.
They have closed this deal to fight the violation of rights companies are committing.

Boutros Boutros-Ghali was dumped because he put people before profit. I give Kofi Annan credit for standing on the side of the Palestinians in this current crisis, but I still believe he's a poster boy for U.S. policy for the most part - he would not have been given the job, had he not been, the U.S. would have made sure of that.

The United Nations was initially based upon something brilliant. The quicker the U.S. Government digs it's own grave, which is slowly but surely is doing even without our assistance, the quicker we can release it's hold on the United Nations.

Might have a chance of bringing it back to what it was intially planned to be. Then, and only then, will I support it 100% again.
