In some sense, i wish they would have as well. Unfortunatly i believe the end of Castro would have been the begging of a U.S. placed regime in Cuba like Batista.

I dont like Castro, as the dictator he is, but at the same token, i would hate to see another Batista in power.

He'll die soon. Raul or someone will take over. They won't have half the charisma or oratory ablities as him, and the people will become disenchanted and, ironically, "rise up" and be liberated. The clock is ticking.

Same for China. There's a reason chairman Mao started the cultural revolution in the sixties. The youth were forgetting the stuggle of the proletariat. Times were too easy. Mao looked around and couldn't see a fleeting sembelance of the world of the peasant farmers he'd fought with to victory during the revolution. The youth were living indulgant, sometimes bourgesie lives. Some people even had businesses and dealt with the westerners. He was smart enough to realize that the apple had stopped falling about half way down the tree, and it was time to start chopping again.

We all know what happened next.

If Fidel wanted to make a communistic paradise, why did he have to resort to dictatorship to control his people? china is the only communist country in good shape right now. russia needs to go back to communism quickly cause they didnt really get the hang of capitalism.

China is not "fully" Communist, they have adopted plent of Capitalist policies. There is also horrible human rights violations in China as well as huge class differences.

Ok, lets get a few things straight, The SU has hated the cubans (communist ones that is) from the begining because it proved the capitalist system wrong, Things are quite good in cuba now and people are gaining more and more rights civally.(not economically,that would be ruinous). And now the people are in a good economic state, recentlally on New Zealand television a travel show went to cuba and it was quite good, they toured and interviewed people and they all love Che and Castro, there is not chance theylll change to capitalism anyday soon.

And may i remind you of the bay of pigs invasion? The US had no viable and honest motives at the time, and all this cuban missile crisis? The Us had missile and bomber bases in turkey? Equally dangourous if not more!

And China, in all my years of debating this is quite topical, "is china capitalist?" the answer is, No.
-They are Maoist-correct
-Dong Xiong Ping made economic reforms giving more economic freedom (bad idea, i know).
-But all major capital and base industries are still govt owned!-not capitalist at all.
-All those sweat shop and slave areas, who do they work for? last time i checked china was not a US sports corperation? US companies are the human rights destroyers! not the chinese govt!
