Stop The War demo (Glasgow)

for anyone who hasn't heard, there is going to be a demonstration about Iraq Afghanistan and a call not to attack Iran on the 15th of March anyone who isn't going to the major London one come tae Glesga. we need your support!

The demo was excellent, 5000 people! really fantastic, the Anarchists were out in force which I felt was great!

it was a good day. were you a steward? according to some of the other stewards there were 5,000. I got drafted because of the numbers. did you see the Anarchist who almost got arrested?

they were pretty cool with us, either indifferent or showing signs of support. it was pretty good:D

I was there. 5000, I also heard this figure quoted, i mean it's usual to quote the highest possible figure but timesing most people's estimate by 5 seems a tad extreme!

It was yet another demo. School Students Against the War had their speaker cut, yet again.

I don't have any problems with SSAW getting cut off the platform. It should have happened to half of them at least. 24 speakers at a closing rally is serious overkill, and it showed with the dwindling numbers staying around for the AWESOME Epseranza at the end.

I attended the demo, and found it very enjoyable.

However, I found it rather annoying that two speakers from the Labour Party were given priority over the others and allowed to address the crowd first.

I particularly enjoyed the speech of the FBU representative though. All in all, it was a good day out.

Well you should. At a rally largely made of radicalised youth it would be nice to have at least one of us present on a platform.

As usual prioroty was given to liberal cnd/stop the war types and people from religous groups who hardly represented anyone on the demonstration and are not the social base of such movements.

The speaker from the FBU was good, Paddy's correct. More speakers from the youth and labour movement would be welcome, more who are willing to analyse from a class perspesctive and draw on wider issues than tony blair and george bush! (as we know if it wasn't for them there would be noe war or impeiralism).

Maybe I should have made myself clear I was reffering to liberal speakers ranting against Blair, Bush and the evil war mongerers rather than presenting a serious understadning.

24 is crazy. However asking for a youth speaker isn't.
