The US government provided information that led to the death of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) leader Raul Reyes in Ecuador, in violation of this country’s sovereignty.

A high-level source in the Colombian Ministry of Defense told AFP news service on Monday that a US agency informed the Colombian authorities several weeks ago about the existence of a satellite telephone used occasionally by Reyes.

“The US provided the identification of the satellite telephone to Colombian police intelligence forces which then processed the information and worked to establish the location of the phone. The US also provided the informants,” stated an official requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the Ecuadorian government had broken off diplomatic relations with Colombia and troops deployed by Quito on its northern border with Colombia are on “maximum alert” on orders of President Rafael Correa.

At the same time, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro told the National Assembly that Colombian Ambassador to Caracas Fernando Marin had been expelled from the country and spoke about another occasion when Venezuela at prevented a Colombian military aggression.

The presidents of Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Mexico and others expressed their concern over the level of confrontation between Colombia and Ecuador and in one way or another expressed their rejection of the incursion by the Colombian military.

Prensa Latina reported that French President Nicolas Sarkozy regretted the death of Raul Reyes ▲—the direct interlocutor of the so-called friends of Colombia (France, Switzerland and Spain) in the effort to free prisoners held by the FARC rebels—, which left negotiations practically severed.

Rafael Correa said on Monday that, before the incident, negotiations had advanced to free more prisoners, including former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt. The operation that violated Ecuadorian sovereignty took the lives of some 20 persons, including the guerrilla leader who had an important role in the negotiations.

The puppet regime in Bogota has committed a serious act of war against not only Ecuador, but against all people in Latin America. The Bogota regime needs to stop with its campaign of terrorism against the Colombian people. Since 1990 paramilitary death squads have murdered some 30,000 Colombians. The Bogota regime should be strongly condemned for its racist policies against the African and indigenous population in Colombia. There needs to be a firm response against Bogota in order to dissuade Washington against these imperialist adventures of trying to recolonize Latin America.

So the paramilitaries have murdered 30,000 Colombians and the heroic FARC is just a scapegoat, right? Have you ever been to Colombia, let alone talked to Colombians on their opinion of both organizations? After one of the longest running wars in modern history, the people have had it. Stop jackin off to some "heroic revolutionary struggle" that has in reality become an endless cycle of violence which the innocents pay the highest price.

So lets go back to a system where the innocents pay a slightly lower price, then.

Hear Hear!

First of all you got that article from to totaly biased source: dirty commie propaganda.

The government of colombia is 100% within its right to kill the leaders of a terrorist organization that has be plaguing that country for decades and decades.

Colombia may have violated the sovereignty of ecuador by crossing the border to kill that pig, but then again ecuador and venezuela break colombia's sovereignty daily by giving refuge to farc terrorists and letting them cross the border in and out on a daily basis.

oh and as regards the racist policies of the government: wtf are you talking about? do you have any proof?

Sky, get a life you commie douchebag!

Ok then. Ask the average Colombian if they'd prefer a stable country with Uribe in charge or the current situation.
