Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is asking 100 of the countries elite to come together in Canberra sometime this year to discuss the future plans of Australia. This is copied from the 2020 website:

Future directions for the Australian economy – including education, skills, training, science and innovation as part of the nation’s productivity agenda
Economic infrastructure, the digital economy and the future of our cities
Population, sustainability, climate change and water
Future directions for rural industries and rural communities
A long-term national health strategy – including the challenges of preventative health, workforce planning and the ageing population
Strengthening communities, supporting families and social inclusion
Options for the future of indigenous Australia
Towards a creative Australia: the future of the arts, film and design
The future of Australian governance: renewed democracy, a more open government (including the role of the media), the structure of the Federation and the rights and responsibilities of citizens
Australia’s future security and prosperity in a rapidly changing region and world.

Seems like some temporary form of oligarchy to me. Thoughts/ideas anyone???

Where is the oligarchy, sorry?

I did not used to like Kevin Rudd, but he really seems to know what he is talking about, which is more than I can say of the Premier, say; he always seems to have an answer to a question. However, this could be because the media is biased towards him.

This looks interesting, mind linking me to the website?

definition of oligarchy:
Oligarchy: 1. a form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few.

- As the summit is aimed at australia's "best and brightest brains from across the country" meaning that the working class will be misrepresented by members of the bourgeoisie. Its oligarchy in the sense that a small elite will be conducting discussions to influence the future of the country. And say what you like about Kevin Rudd, when compared to John Howard he's merely the (slightly) lesser of two evils. The labour party don't care about the workers and neither does he.

Australia is doing what many countries, like the US, have been doing for years. That is to say, they are gathering the richest and figuring out how to keep them that way. They will only establish that climate change is not anthropocentric, national health care is a bad idea, and that free trade is the best kind of trade.

And where will the working Australian be during this summit? Why, in the factory, where he or she will be working longer for less...possibly.

It might be that they are working towards something better than that, and I'm just being overly pessimistic.
