hello my dear commrades,
i have noticed that most of u brothers/sisters, currently live in a capitalist country and claim to be a lefty
hmmmm....
that's cool
so u ppl r lefty but u live capitalistic life?
like what do u eat for breakfast?
cereals?
cornflakes?
but isn't that produced by the "big evil corporations"?
hah but it also supplies ur daily sustenance
or but i guess it could all be justified right?
i guess there is nothing wrong with being a lefty only in the head
except the fact that u guys are hypocrites
a real good one at that...
oh yeah for those who are not living their life as i have described above plz don't be offended in anyway cuz
all i'm trying to say is that if u truly claim to be a lefty or anything really, then shouldn't u live or atleast try ur best to live accroding to your own philosophies?

Some of us probably don't, just because I have ate at macdonalds in the past doesn't mean I like them or support them, just means that im hungry, and only the people who tell people not to eat kellog's or shit and eat it are hypocrites. What are we suppost to do? Harvest the crops every morning, most of us couldn't do that, i support my local shop instead of supermarkets but they sell the same brands.

I didn't realize being socialist meant being anti-cereal.
If you don't want to buy from big corporations, buy the generic stuff and shop at a health food store. And like MOLOCH said, support your local stores.
Sasafrás
25th March 2002, 17:33
Yes, MOLOCH & munkey soup, I agree. I'm not a farmer and I don't know how to harvest my own crops, milk cows, and do other farm work. Believe me, if I could survive doing so, I wouldn't buy certain things, but since I certainly need nourishment, clothing (I don't know how to make my own clothes either), and other things in order to live each day, I have to sometimes buy things that I wouldn't otherwise condone purchasing. I went to McDonald's the other night, not because I wanted to, but because it was late and I didn't have any other options. (I absolutely refuse to eat Taco Bell since it literally makes me sick, but it's the only other place that's open late). I tell people, "You shouldn't shop at Old Navy & The Gap because they use child labour & cheap foreign labour" and I also never shop there. If I did, then I'd be a hypocrite. I don't go aaround saying, "Boycott McDonald's" because I know that in many cases, I'll have to eat there. I don't want to support those big corporations and such, so I try as often as I can to buy from the locally-owned shops and the minority-owned businesses (Mexican supermercados & Mexican, Cuban, Chinese/Japanese restaurants, etc.)
And, I enjoyed the Apple Jacks I ate this morning...

If Fires of History offended everyone, then I wouldn't like him. But if he calls the idiots out on their bullshit then I'll only like him even more.
In a socialist state, there would still be cereal. There would be soda and hamburgers, too. The difference is that the soda companies would not be allowed to advertise in schools and the hamburger companies would not be allowed to prohibit their employees from joining unions. Perhaps you'd like to refer me to the page in Guerilla Warfare where Che wrote about the ambush on Pop-Tarts headquarters. (Last time a dimwit wrote about how we're all hypocrites for not being self-sustained, at least we got around to discussing underwear.) And by the way, I had an egg and cheese english muffin for breakfast that I made myself, thank you very much.
PS - I know how to milk cows and harvest crops. And I'm an American. It's odd how the people who like to call themselves socialists and feel the need to prove themselves by criticizing their fellow left-wingers (most of whom are much smarter than they are) also complain about Middle America and "hicks" the first chance they get. What would you say, Guest, if I told you that my father's family has been farming land for hundreds of years and that he is a committed socialist who raised me on a commune in a (gasp!) capitalist country? Not everyone in a capitalist country lives a capitalist lifestyle. There are plenty of communes in America and some of the most famous communes in the world are located in America's partner-in-crime, Israel.

I used to live on a ranch, our eggs came from our chickens and most of our vegetables came from the garden. but we still bought the majority of our food from the market.

I just drink coffee. No-name-brand coffee. Either that or I have no breakfast. I'm not a big cereal kind of guy.
But wait, who the fuck are you to tell us what we can or cannot eat for breakfast? You probably do things every day that are hypocritical. What people do on their own time is their own damn business, not yours. If they want to honor the movement further by not supporting ANY corporation, that's fantastic! But in the fog of commercialism, it's hard to see as clearly as most of us would like to. Hell, I own a Sony portable CD-Player. Does that deserve intense torture and brutality by little shits like you? Mind your own fucking business. And stay out of our breakfast.

This shows that you don't know what you're talking about. Life in a socialist country would only be more uncomfortable than life in a capitalist country if you're in the richer half of the population. If you're in the poorer half, life would actually be more comfortable in a socialist country. I know for a fact that I'm in the lower half income-wise, so for me there are only "pleasures" of living in a capitalist country if you're comparing it to a fascist country.

Well I don't know a single environmentalist who's a right-winger (and I know a lot of environmentalists), so you're correct in a way because McDonald's is able to make such huge profits because it uses cheap land that used to be the rainforest. And in a socialist country, McDonald's would never get away with treating its workers so poorly. But who said that there would be no fast food in a socialist country? Maybe you should go look up "socialism" in the dictionary. In a socialist country, the same services are provided but government ownership is favored over private ownership, and wages are the same across the board. Perhaps the voters in a socialist country would choose to shut down McDonald's if they realized that the government could use the money for french fry-makers for research equipment and that the money used to pay the guy at the drive-thru could be used for AIDS research or scholarships, but that would be the result of voter empowerment and deliberation, not the result of a true socialist system itself. And in a socialist country there would still be Playstation, but it would be produced by organized workers who were paid a living wage, instead of five-year-olds in the third world working for peanuts.

But how do you think we would feed ourselve without these products, we do live in a capitalist country. if there was a decent socialist government in power i'm sure they'd feed us well. what are we supposed to do, grow wheat and oats etc. in our back yards and eat them for breakfast... i think not. it's either that or make a make-shift raft and sail through the shark-infested waters to Cuba. we take what we are presented with, whether we like it or not.

Whats really hypocritical is (insert sports/actor/rockstar name) will pitch Nike, The Gap, K-Mart while these companies are known users of child labor. To be even more of a hipocrit, alot of them will start charities. Whats wrong with that founding a organization to help is a good thing. Nope its the best way to hide money when your salary is public knowledge, almost all of them take out millions for "personal" use hidden as operational expenses of the charity. Often times charities pay for travel and daily living expenses of celebs: these bastards will speak for a charity while staying in the best hotels in the highest price room, some have been known to charter jets on charities dimes. (one way private jet LA to NY $18,000 per person) Know thats a hipocrit!!!!!

You know, it is quite annoying when an indivisual reads something with the word "fuck" in it and automatically assumes that this means I was ready to go out and commit a mass homicide.
Let me tell you something: I would destroy my Sony CD player without hesitation if it was somehow going to bring down capitalism. But the fact that I happen to own a CD player made by a large corporation which I despise is not something that really matters.
I do realize that in a communistic society I would have no Sony CD player. I would have no McDonalds. I would have no Playstation 2. Not only do I understand this, I strive for this goal. You do not appear to understand that the communists oppose commercialism. I never eat at McDonalds and I don't own a Playstation 2. I have to affection towards the corporation of Sony. If they stopped making CD players I wouldn't really give a fuck if it meant I had to buy the same product under a different label.
Also let me clarrify that I am not a supporter of Fidel Castro. And that I am not "pissed off" by your nonsense, I am merely annoyed by your stupidity. And this means that my feelings were not directed towards you, but towards your rediculous arguments, as you have just suggested. And of course, the fact that you cannot even grasp the concept of correct grammar, yet you are asking me to be more articulate. That is just plain foolish.

I suggest we all just egnore any similar posts by the guest. He/She is not wanting to learn what we think. So whats the point? Enough has been said to him/she, I think that he/she should understand whats been said, before we waste anymore breath on the subject.

Yes that's right, there is no entertainment in a communist world. Entertainment will be outlawed.
Anyway, if you want to fight consumerism, why buy a playstation when you can download one? (http://www.ngemu.com/)

Fuck Playstations! Video games are in such a depressing state of mass-production and thoughtlessness. I miss my 80's childhood of Super Mario Bros. 3, Bubble Bobble, Little Nemo the Dream Master, and River City Ransom. Back then, games were based on whether or not it was fun to play, not whether or not it looked cool. I still play my NES and SNES. I actually collect NES games now. I own 137 games.
I'd much rather play Kid Icarus on my NES than some stupid fucking bear with a bird in his backpack on an N64.

??? Entertainment=computer/TV ???
Why not just go out side, try and get some AIR in your lungs. I know that this is simply impossibly for some, due to where they live, but i'm sure we are slowly turning into a coach potatoe world. (i mean the well off areas of the world ---capitilism???)
