Just got a portable DvD player as I refuse to have a TV. The first film I got was from a charity shop. It was called "Viva Zapata" staring Marlon Brando. It's an old Black and White about the life of Emiliano Zapata a mexican revolutionary. What an amazing film. If you haven't seen it get hold of it it's well worth a watch. I wondered if anyone else had seen it and what they had thought of it.

Yeah it's a great film, although not exactly being a accurate portrayal of Zapata, but who cares? And I was pretty surprised to hear it's John McCain's favourite film ;)

What do you expect though it was made by a corperate american company. Warping the truth about rebels and freedom fighters for the goverment is what they do while making looooooads of money. Vietnam war films like "Full Metal Jacket" and "The Killing Fields" are the same. They give a pro America view on it. Who says properganda isn't dead ha ha ha!!!

Sometimes I am not sure what is worse; being portrayed unfairly or not being portrayed at all.

Completely off topic, but this morning when I was driving home around six, I passed the John McCain buses on the interstate.
Now, to somehow relate this to the thread:
Damn, I love Marlon Brando.

Off subject as well but has anyone seen a German film called What to do in case of fire? I think it's well done.

Sorry Dystisis but it's the truth! The Killing Fields never showed the truth about the part the Americans and the North Vietnamese played in the conflict in Cambodia (see the Omnibus documentry on the 2 disc special edition) So yes I would say I am being fair and the film is biased. Yes the KR were cruel but so were the Americans (who shouldn't have been over there anyway) and North Vietnamese. what are we going to have next a film showing that the Americans won WW1 and 2 all by themselves If we are going to have historical films lets at least have them unbiased and not properganda. No I am not anti american by the way before i get accused of that just american policies
