I wasnt born into a rich family myself but my Mother worked her ass off to get me an education and afford me the opportunity to go to college. My Grandfather didnt have 2 nickels to rub together when he came here but he worked, learned english and gradually built his own auto-parts company.
Thats good capitalism for you. Can some of you commies actually argue this without your typical arrogant off-topic claims?

That is without exception the most stupid pro-capitalist argument i have ever heard. How the fuck can you type that without realising that it's utter bullshit. Just because it worked for your parents, that doesn't mean that it will work for everyone. None of us deny that capitalism does benefit the few, but that is precisly its fault. It equates money with power and consolidates the power into the hands of the few. In communism your mother wouldn't have had to "work her ass off" to get you an education.

your mother wasn't so well educated, wasn't she? Would you change places with her? And think that that's fair?...bljak, you are disgusting. Happy bcs your mother had to work some mechanical or whatever job, which she wouldn't choose if had an oportunity.

that was a pretty weak argument.. i must agree with HI, its great it worked for your mother and grandfather.. but my parents, as almost everyone elses grandparents immigrated here as well and if you took a look around, most people dont have their own business... it beinifts few, but not all.. so should we sacrifice the majority for the good of the minority?

How does capitalism work if 2 billion people live under the poverty line?

Captialism and Democracy go hand-in-hand. There has been much evidence that Democracy does not exist in Captialist states. This is why so-called Communist States failed to archive it.

Guest, you have just proved why capitalism is unfair. If your mother hadn't been so prudent would YOU deserve to be poor and uneducated.

My mother didn't work her ass off. My dad was his union's shop steward and a lifelong socialist. My country paid for me to go to college. I still turned into a *****. Go figure.

why is it that cappies assume that just because a few people made it for themselves everyone can. Grow up in a ghetto, go to a substabdard school, grow up around crime, crack, and racist cops and see how far you get in capitalism

I don't think I need to add anyting other than pick up on Super Xero's point about the link between capitalism and democracy. This is a contentious point. I fail to see how America's a democracy. In the last election, you had the choice between two near-identical candidates (the only difference being in degrees), both from the privileged class, both exuding the almost exact same policies. Is that really "by the people, from the people, with the people" (or whatever the Lincoln quote is)??

The essential argument:
You are bourgeois.
You either live in a nation such as America that is mostly bourgeois, or you were born into the bourgeoisie anyways.
The bourgeoisie has a lot more opportunity.
Regardless of how hard you, your mother, or your grandfather worked, there is some kid in El Salvador working twice as much, and still starving.
Your argument only proves that capitalism works for the bourgeoisie. It does not work for everyone else.
Therefore, your argument only strengthens our accusations that capitalism is a system of corruption.

Capitalism favors the rich and profit. Those who, like your mom and grandpa-who knows, i wasnt paying attention- had opportunities. "Capitalism is freedom" is usually quoted and its not that, its freedom is opportunity.
For me to explain what capitalism IS, I'm going to explain what is not:
Capitalism is NOT freedom
Capitalism is NOT working to benefit all people
Capitalism is NOT saving the planet
Capitalism IS profiting those who steal
Capitalism IS pain on the workers
Capitalism IS killing the planet
Capitalism IS shackles for the poor
So no when you say CAPITALISM WORKS, it's more like WORK FOR CAPITALISM, MAKE MONEY FOR THE RICH
