For those who care it's happening today! In most cases this means nothing to me but since it could possibly lead to a federal election it interests me. Our current PM is a Bush loving Right-winger and needs to be taken out of office. It seems that the Liberal leader (which is actually not left at all) is very weak and the NDP don't seem to be saying anything new but anything is better than Harper (current PM). Another thing is that a small mistake in the federal budget could lead to a huge economic impact since our economy is falling much like the one in the U.S and that could lead to discontent among the working class.

I just don't give a shit about Canadian politics anymore. Especially in, say, Parliament, but even just with people.

The party system is a complete fraud, and I have a history with the NDP, like I went to local party meetings when I was 10 and I really bought into it. But it's totally pointless, especially since Jack quit with his orange tie. Whatshisname, Stéphane Dion came to give a talk at my school, and because I'm buds with the history teachers I begged my way in, but he was emphatically unimpressive. Like really he was a lot of stumbling English and avoiding students' (ultra-mainstream, probably teacher-scripted questions, I do not go to school with radicals) questions, maybe faking misunderstanding? and nothing else. The debate about "Afghanistan?" is totally trivial, and repulsive in its various functionings. Really I just have no interest anymore.

Of course you're right, Harper is specifically terrifying and ought be gotten rid of. In fact, I think we as a country should just have the whole province of Alberta and those Ralph-Klein-redneck-oil-oligarch fucks turned over to Britain for reconquest and cleansing, and clean it up a bit, and give it back to the Natives.

We may be seeing upcoming elections but Harper is actually trying to move away from the unpopular american government.

It isn't helping. Canada's symbiotic relationship with the United States has seen thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of manufacturing and industrial jobs lost over the past few years.

The budget is unlikely to help matters. More than likely it will include bonuses for companies seeking to send operations overseas to cheap labour markets which will leave more of us without jobs.

Like the last budget, it'll probably contain a bribe -- I mean incentive for the Bloc to automatically support it to prevent the Libs or NDP trying to force an election. I can't understand why this fact alone doesn't enrage all Canadians. One party so openly and legally bribing another with millions of dollars in order to secure its support?

minority governments usually don't last more than 2 years in Canada, so it wouldn't be so surprising if the budget fails to pass and new elections happen.

yeah, but the Conservatives have found such a submissive and willing lap-dog in the Bloc. All they have to do is throw them a few million dollars for Quebec and presto, federal budget approval in the HoC.
