The other night Castro held a cigar auction, which is very famous and cigar afficiandos from around the world come to buy the best cigars there. He raised over 600,000 (i think, the exact figure is in the newspaper upstairs)

Guess what he did with this big amount of money?

He gave it to the Cuban Healthcare System

Bush would never ever do that for his people...

Brilliant, Did you know that JFK stole like 2000 cigars from cuba for the white house, just before banning trade shit

$653,200 for the health care system.. sure, bush would do that, but he'd lie and say they only raised $1.50.. lol..

Capatilists on this board, i guess this REALLY shows how EVIL castro is.. lol..

Maybe Bush would hold a cocaine auction. Of course the money wouldn't go to the United States healthcare system because we don't have one.

Irish, I never knew that JFK banned anything from Cuba. Maybe you're thinking of another president--JFK died more than a decade before Batista was overthrown. Anyway, we've had worse presidents. JFK started lots of social security and welfare-type programs, was an environmentalist, and employed Rennie Davis' dad. As Nixon would never say, vat a mensch!

We have a health care system. You just have to work and pay for it. We have the best healthcare in the world. To me, it's worth paying for. I sure wouldn't want to be deathly sick in Cuba.

rebel.. the U.s.' healthcare system sux ass.. i have healthcare and waited 14 hours to get my broken hand fixed, and about 300 dollars later, its still fucked up.. i rebroke that hand in cuba, not being a cuban-citizen, and they casted me up in about 20 minutes, no one even asked if i had insurance..

US: no insurance, you die in the emergency room..
CUBA: we will help you best we can, even if its not the best, but EVERYONE is welcome

hmm.. oh yes.. wat a wonderful healthcare system the u.s. has. FUCK THE U.S. HEALTHCARE SYSTEM!

Rebel, I meant a healthcare system run by the state, not a private healthcare system. I've never liked Castro and I've never pretended to . . . these days I wouldn't want to be in Cuba at all, period.

Yep the American healthcare system does suck. In Britain (a country notorious for it's bad healthcare system) I only had to wait about 2 hours to sort out a compacted toe. And it was free.

But In Britain there's also private healthcare as well which is better for some things than the free healthcare eg. Cortorising my nose.

Also insurance in America is bloody expensive. Trust me, my dad works for an insurance company and gets lots of queries from Americans because the prices are so much cheaper over here.

Yeah but at least the dentists in the US will give you a perfect smile, assuming you want to spend a few thousand $$$ on one. Nice how you can have your face rearranged if you have money but can't get your busted lip stitched if you're poor.

In the US the really worst off are the working poor. At least people on welfare get free healthcare, if you're just above the poverty line, there's no way to afford health insurance.

Big Fucking Deal.

Free Healthcare for whom?

Not Cubans - I can assure you of that fact!

The only people recieving quality healthcare in Cuba are the foreignors and tourists - who pay big American Dollars for it.

The free/Cuban healthcare in Cuba is worthless.

The socialistic system can not even provide the essential medicines and equipment necessary to treat the Native Cuban (unless of course he is a governemnt official)

haha your kinda dumb, actualy cubans do get free healcare, they also get free education(including unversity) and i would trust theire healthcare more than the u$ healthcare, at least in cuba they wont give me some consumer drug that does get rid of the pain but also makes sure you die at 50 since old people cost money

"The only people recieving quality healthcare in Cuba are the foreignors and tourists - who pay big American Dollars for it."

Actuelly the Cuban hospitals are better than what I've seen here in Canada. My Cuban friends mother had cancer, she got chemo (sp?) right away. My cousin has to drive 6hrs away to an American city to get treatment, if she wants it in Canada its a 7month wait.

Yes, Cuba sometimes runs low on supply's but that is due to the embargo. It also effects the tourist medical clinics that do cost alot, but they do not cost Cubans in decrease of care.
