I am reading a book called "Taliban" by a Pakistan Journalist. It has a short history of Afghanistan dating back to about 400 B.C. It seems that Afghanistan has always been a place of brutal war. Most of the time these wars are intensified by out side involvement. I am torn between whether NATO should stay in Afghanistan and try and 'destroy' the Taliban or just leave and let them sort it out them selves. This is really bothering me because it seems cruel to let a nazi-like regime continue to kill non-Pashtun and shia muslims but at the same time what are we really solving by having NATO there? What do you guys think?

Communists call for the immediate withdraw of all imperialist soldiers from Afghanistan. Imperialists don't do anything that's not in their interests. They're not in Afghanistan to benefit the workers and farmers there.
Keep in mind it was the U.S. imperialists and their junior partners that backed the religious-fundamentalist counterrevolutionaries that the Taliban emerged from.
Also keep in mind that Afghanistan was carved out of several tribal and ethnic regions. And actually, while the red army was in Afghanistan (at the request of the revolutionary state to help defend it from the aforementioned counterrevolutionaries), tribal and ethnic disputes begin to disolve.
Yeah, NATO has never solved anything, they've actually made the situation in the Balkans worse. NATO represents imperialist interest, which ultimately will keep Afghanistan stuck in the stone age

Sadly, I don't think so. It seems that as imperialist forces invade Afghanistan, the farmers and workers almost feel it necessary to side with the Taliban so as to defend their country. If only all of the farmers/peasants/workers could get together and overthrow the Taliban, simultaneously institutionalizing a real democratic society.
