The US has shot down a disabled spy satellite with a potentially toxic fuel tank. But has it raised concerns?

Didn't they destroy the fuel tank? Besides, it'll most likely end up crashing into the Pacific.

Well the americans have certainly tried to control space and dominate it like everything else. This has been expressed vocally recently by the Bush administration as to what country's can have access to space and what they are allowed to do . Yes folks I'm sure we will hear the term "space terrorist" soon ....

To what extent do we figure this is an intentional show of force. And is anyone kind of, you know, at least considering that in public?

I doubt it.

This launch was just political dick waving on the part of the americans in response to a similar chinese activity previously.

It was probably intended to also send a ''don't even think about it'' message to the DPRK, and to a lesser exent Iran.

Anyway, with their rocketing economy i doubt China would want to rock the financial boat, especially with the world's current #1.
