Anyone ever heard this? It's an old Russian song that they would play by the graves of dead revolutionaries. I became interested in it when I discovered it was the source of the main theme in the sublime third movement of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11- "The Year 1905".
Here's an mp3: http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/sounds/mp3/proletariat-01/Vy-shertvoju-pali.mp3
And the lyrics- in Russian, and English (translated): http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/sounds/lyrics/vy-zhertvoiu.htm
The translated English lyrics don't seem to fit the music, though. Would anyone like to help me write some that would?
