The mayor has just given permission for the nazis to demonstrate. At the same time, he has banned two counter-demonstrations. The nazis will be allowed to march through the streets, side-by-side with the riot police. The streets will be blocked from traffic, and citizens living alongside the route are advised to keep garbage containers out of sight. The police will "act in case of racist statements" (fat chance!), and may also take action against citizens living along the route showing their opposition.

Wow, horseshit. I still can't figure out why the capitalist state defends racists so much. I mean, there is tacit approval, and then there's this, which seems to be the most common case.

Omi
28th February 2008, 21:07
Well, as Malcolm X once said: ''You can't have capitalism without racism.''

Capitalism and racism supports each other, the constant indoctrination to be proud of who you are and where you come from stimulates the nationalism under it's civilians. On the other hand, capitalism also supports racism. How many times have you heard racist fuckheads say ''they took out jobs!'' ? That's capitalism for you. Cheap labour without apparent change of productivity.

Therefore the state allows a mild form of racism, without it going out of hand and let it overthrow capitalism in itself through reactionair ideology.

Hey comrade, seen the RevLeft Nederlands forum yet?

Anyway, someone on Dutch Indymedia posted the following:

The nazis are going home. There were only about 40 of them, and have looked like idiots all the way. They have been insulted all the way, had all sorts of things thrown at them (including dog shit), etc. Some arrests for throwing stones, including a little jugendsturm who took a rock and threw it back. The local population has once again made very clear how nazis are not welcome!

I hope this is true, it would be a great relief.

I wish everyone would following this example and show their non-tolerance for those Nazi fucks.

In the Learning forum, I was getting criticized for promoting actions, just like these, to oust Fascism in a theoretical Communist society.

Those people did the only thing worthwhile with Fascism, they smashed it. Good job!

A new addition to Indymedia:

I thought Kusters was going to give a speech at the Piusplein. All that happened there, was a bunch of empty-heads shitting their pants, only thinking of how to get out of that neighbourhood in one piece. Anyway, a successful day out for those gentlemen, they must have felt right at home, especially when the dog shit came flying in; at least they were answered on their own level.

Very nice was the Kusters quote "Dutch jobs for Dutch people". Why, Kusters, are you planning to start working?Constant Kusters is the chairman of the National People's Union, NVU, the neo-nazi organization. He is a slick guy: in the Netherlands, he tries to portray himself and his 'party' as perfectly decent people, and he often finds loopholes in the law to persuade mayors like this one to let him demonstrate. Whenever he visits his "comrades" in Germany for SS memorials, the gloves come off, and he can be seen saluting in some kind of weird brown uniform.

A running joke is that he is habitually unemployed (because of his politics, he says), even though he keeps saying that Arab and eastern European immigrants are "taking our jobs".

EDIT: according to news site "NieuwNieuws", there were 70 fascists, and 200-300 antifas. 150 riot police tried to keep them away from each other, 17 people were arrested.

Local newspaper BN/De Stem also says 70 fash. They held banners saying "Racial Volunteers" and "Remigration of all elements not belonging in the Netherlands". This is funny, because Kusters was desperate to use this demo to give themselves a "good image". Therefore, he had ordered his baldheads not to bring banners with racist sentiment, swastikas, logos of the NSB (Dutch collaborators' party during WWII), symbols of Afrikaner movements, etc. Also, for once, they were not allowed bring rocks, brass knuckles, knives, etc. :p

BN/De Stem, however, had plenty of articles in which they were quite clear what kind of "party" the NVU is. This prompted the NVU to start a hilarious campaign against BN/De Stem's "demonization" of them, calling it a "left-fascist rag" and "sewers paper", threatening to make a "case" in the Journalist Court, and whining about the fact that "not a word was said against the Stalinist communists". They even made this brilliant picture (in MS Paint, I presume):

http://nvu.info/pers/010308/BNlogo.jpg

Hundreds of local citizens went to watch, and to show their discontent.

At the aforementioned Piusplein, things came to a head when folks started throwing rocks and eggs. 17 were arrested by undercover snatch squads that had infiltrated the opponents (who needs fascists to infiltrate, when the cops will do it for them???). Kusters and some of his "comrades" held two speeches. The second could not be heard because local citizens were jeering at him. One NVU member got a rock thrown at his head!

After the fash had left, opponents refused to disperse, so the cops took out the clubs. :( At 5 PM, most everybody had gone home.

Tomorrow, anti-fascists will have an action at the square where Kusters held speeches, to symbolically "scrub it clean".

Source: http://www.bndestem.nl/bergenopzoom/2743968/Grimmige-sfeer-bij-NVUdemonstratie.ece

Hilariously, both Kusters ("we were able to make our point, but there should have been more police") and the mayor ("There was a grim atmosphere in places, but most people did not allow themselves to get provoked") were pleased by their performance afterwards!

I hope this is true, it would be a great relief.

it is true, there we're about 50 Fascists. And some 200 antifascists walking along, along the route there we're seperate groups attacking the Nazi's. So, summing up it was 500 versus 50 :). Totally succeeded, the dog-shit one was mastah-shit, especially cause it was thrown in a period where people we're still under the assumption that the the 'emergency-order' was in function :P.

Dude, i was seriously drunk when i wrote that. So, overall i mean it is sort off correct what i said. Except that the dog-shit was thrown well after we realized the emergency-order wasn't in function because the police couldn't handle so many people (for those who don't know, the legal anti-manifestation wasn't allowed and there we're strict policy's concerning 'anti-fascism', no posters on your windows, no provocative clothing, no shouting etc... etc... Ironically it ended up in a semi-spontaneous mass-movement instead of well nothing :P). I'll give some sum-up of my personal experiences later, too lazy right now ;).

Yeah, more or less. Nazis hate jews, Israel is a jewish state, so they claim to support Palestine. Of course, at the same time, they're equally racist against Arab immigrants. It's all a big, stupid show. Also, it should not be forgotten that the nazis are increasingly trying to take on the looks of their opponents: black clothes, hoods, Palestinian scarves, etc. This flag fits right in with that purpose.

Awesome! Some funny reactions from NVU members on StormFront:

"The youth of Bergen op Zoom has showed what kind of inferior creatures they are." -Wolfsherz

"The sand niggers have shown their true nature." -Dietse Strijder

Although they try to avoid looking like nazis at their demos (FAIL!), the gloves come off once they're safely behind their internet IDs. :)

Panda Tse Tung

Ohw i love the stormfront-responses.

quote Dietse Strijder:
Some citizens of Bergen op Zoom actually walked along for a bit, and some carefully sticked up their thumbs towards us.

First off, most people that 'walked along' (as in most certainly 95%) we're anti-demonstrators that weren't allowed to say shit because the police had a zero-tolerance towards anybody who wore provocative clothing, said anything provocative, disturbed the demo, etc... etc... That is why not much was said in the beginning. I only spotted some 5 NVU-sympathizers and 2 plain neo-Nazi's around the demonstration itself. Seeing how some 500 persons attacked them, well... i doubt that is to be considered successful... The thumbs up, ohw yeah I've seen thumbs up. Towards people that threw horse-shit and bottles towards the neo-Nazi's.

These kind of things really make me doubt whether these people are just so blind, or they just want to be blind to these things. Cause if they state: well, it was a huge catastrophe, we're certainly not going back to that place. It's a big fail to begin with :P.

Quote 2:
My only point of criticism is that there wasn't enough police, and there should have have been some better precaution against those leftist and immigrant scum!

Well, if thats his 'only point of criticism' it does say a lot. Seeing as there we're 130 police-officers protecting some 50 neo-Nazi's. Thats all i need to say on this :).

I thought the boneheads were always on about how it was antifascists that needed cop protection and were hypocritical for relying on it (which is hilarious in its own pathetic way "If these cops weren't here I would sooo kick your ass".) but here they are when the chips are down running behind the cops and whining about protection. Fucking pathetic.

By the way, I wonder what a banner saying "Hamas, Hezbollah, Jihad!" has to do with cheap Polish labour.

Funny quote from Indymedia:

They didn't just get to eat shit, but it also ran down their trouser legs by the time they reached the Piusplein. A loud mouth, but those panicked eyes were just screaming with fear (how will I get out of this neighbourhood in one piece?). The army of "Dutch pride" can be very pleased with the amount of police protection.
Understandably, because they clearly realized that, if the attention of the riot police would fade for a moment, they and their "stewards" would be slaughtered en masse.
About 2 cops per bonehead (counting the horses and dogs. By the way, it was notable that the barking of the dogs brought more intelligent language than Kusters and his little megaphone from the hardware store, but he'll be used to that.)
Bad luck for Kusters, who thought that he, supported by the repression politics of "first citizen" Polman, would not have to expect opposition from the population; oops! On StormFront, they already admitted that the neighbourhood choice was not very clever; talk about an understatement (look it up in the dictionary, Constant, you know, a thing with letters, like your unemployment note, but a whole lot of them).
I don't see their problem, anyway. They keep saying that they want to take back the streets, then they get a piece of the street thrown at their heads, and they're still not happy! Difficult guys...
Anyway, I think that they will be a lot less eager to raise hell in Bergen op Zoom next time, it went a bit differently than they had expected. Although they could have counted on their fingers (a bit too high-brow, perhaps) that they were going to receive a "warm" welcome.

Indeed. One has to question the intelligence inside those bald heads. They were so elated: they picked a city in the far south-west corner of the country, they mustered about 70 boneheads, they had their demo legalized while an antifa march was prohibited. They were expecting to rule the streets.

Turns out that they had planned their march right through an immigrant neighbourhood! The presence of antifas and communists was the icing on the cake. :)

What's even more pathetic, is that there were already like 2 cops for every bonehead. Apparently, 25 vans of riot cops cannot deflect bottles, eggs, shit, etc. By the way, I think it would have been hilarious to squirt them with super soakers, it was really cold yesterday, maybe one or two of them would have gotten hypothermia.

Panda Tse Tung

Not to be a nitpick but 50 boneheads and 130 police-officers makes 2,6 :P.

And why does everyone fail to mention the 'zero tolerance' policy that the local government introduced on the mayors orders :P. I mean seriously, at first the streets surrounding their demonstration we're constantly swept. We we're even told that if 'our kind of people' would get any closer then 100 meters from the demonstration we would be arrested and that 'our kind of people is not wanted in Bergen op Zoom today :P. It was an amazing achievement considering these facts, whats an even greater achievement is that only 17 of us got arrested. Mostly youngsters who we're in for a fight.

They occasionally met out in the country side to burn a cross and relive their glory days.

Voiceover: The demonstration has been grim. Hundreds of people showed up against the protest.

Interviewer: People don't look very interested.
Kusters: We got different signals.

Funny scene towards the end, where a protester refuses to answer questions. He says "English". Guess he's one of the foreign ringers that the NVU often invite along, to puff up their actions, making them look bigger.

Comrade from the CJB, talking about the prohibition of a counter-action: Scandalous. We're being forced back, it's scandalous. The street view of '40-'45 is here.
