In Lebanon there is a fascist party called "Lebanese Forces"

Wikipedia says:
Lebanese Forces (LF) (Arabic: القوات اللبنانية al-quwat al-lubnāniyya) are a right wing Lebanese political party and a former militia,[1] which fought on the Christian side during the civil war that ravaged Lebanon from 1975 to 1990.

They are known to have been trained in Israel during the 80s to fight the palestinians in lebanon, as well as committing the Sabra and Chatila palestinian refugee camp massacres. After the leader being imprisoned for 11 years, he was released and is now part of the government.

I want to fight these fascists but there's a problem. They are all Christians, and have huge Christian nationalist support. If i try to fight these idiots, me being a muslim by name, they will think I have something against Christians or some shit like that. How can i fight these stupid fascists without being accused of being a "radical muslim against Christian presence in Lebanon"?!

Hah, well you could always report on them for being Israeli collaborators. Isn't Lebanon executing people who have anything to do with Israel? I think they executed a small business owner last year because he had an office in Israel.

I mean, not really, as Trotskyists we support the community fighting fascism, not the state. But sure would be funny...

One solution would be to stress that you don't care about their personal neliefs, but that you are against their politics of hate.
You could also stress that you're a marxist and are against muslim fundamentalism as well as christian fundamentalism.

Tough situation comrade. In what way you want to fight them? Do you have an organization or you solo?

How large is the Christian National community and how much influence do the LF have with ordinary (non nationalist) Christians?

Fighting fascism is not going to make you popular with nationalists of any kind, as you'll be openly opposing them and their allies but it would be good if you could make sure you aren't slandered. Fascists always try to (and sometimes manage to) paint their opponents as something other than what they are - often resorting to outright lies, for example "noncewatch" a website attatched to Redwatch often gives the details of prominent anti-fascists as paedophiles although this is a much less sophisticated version of what you seem to be facing the principal is the same. Generally it's best to work hard within your community to expose their lies and to discredit them as much as possible (but always remain truthful).

Good luck.

Well usually yes, but the time they trained there was during the Civil War, so noone says anything, as the other side they were fighting against got training from Syria. They are a very very popular party its not like a bunch of idiots, they are part of the majority in the gov't.

Well I'm solo, got a few willing individuals, thinking of starting a Beirut Anti Fascist Youth or something. But another problem is right now the country is at a standstill between the gov't(Lebanese forces and other Sunnis) and the opposition(Hizbullah and other Christians), so they might just think we're a bunch of guys from Hezbollah trying to pick up a fight. I want to fight them in such a way that I make people aware that these people are fascists, cause many people support them simply because they're christian and are oblivious to the fact that theyre extreme right, i want to make people aware, and make them know that they are scum, and the lowest of the low, and if possible make people leave their group. If neceesssary i will use physical force, although it's risky because they're an armed militia.

How large is the Christian National community and how much influence do the LF have with ordinary (non nationalist) Christians?

The Christian community make up about 40% of the Lebanese population, and around half of them support the Lebanese Forces. Normal non nationalist christians sometimes support the LF simply because they are Christian, and they believe that they are the defenders of Christianity in Lebanon, because the other Christian party, the Free Patriotic Movement, are allied with Hezbollah.

Thanks for the help comrades. Am I in way over my head trying to fight a political party with support from around 20% of the nation on my own? Further proof that they are fascists: a part of their party is called "The Phalangists"....the same name as Franco's party. The founder of the Phalangists, Pierre Gemayel, got the inspiration to start the party after going to Germany and being impressed by the organization of the Nazis.

I think that the important thing is not that a few leftists physically oppose these type of organisations, but that the working class does.

There is no reason for a few young leftists to get murder for attacking the LF and that is easily something that can happen.

When the working class is powerful it can launch struggles that cross the sectarian divides within society, and by neccesity oppose parties of sectarian interest.

Maybe the best way is to form a party cell and use it's name for "hiding" your "muslim" name,as you said.
Anyway, best of luck for you and our struggle in Lebanon.
