:blushing:So, I realize this really doesn't warrant a thread, but I was looking at that comic from the 50's that tried showing how evil and godless Marx was and that the communists wanted everyone to be slaves, and it was hilarious (even though, sadly, I could see this being espoused by the right as truth).
Anyway, I wanted to pass it along to a few other people I know, but can't find it, and because of this massive phailure, I made this thread in hopes you know what I'm talking about and can show me where it is.:blushing:

Wow, the third page already shows me the ignorance of the writers. Let's just substitute the word "Communism" for "US Government", and "Russia" for "America", and see how the paragraph is still very true.

"Modern US Government got its first toehold in America through violence
and bloodshed. A revolution was directed by a small group of men who urged the people to attack their representative government. The people did so because they thought the US Government would help them lead a more comfortable life. The people did not realize that for this promise of an asier life the were giving up their freedom!"

:lol:Good catch! Although, the whole freedom thing is debatable:
1. I don't know if much freedom was lost after beating the British
2. The comic says people gave up their freedom- what freedom did the serfs have exactly?

Well, I won't lie, at first, until the whole attempting to take over the entire continent thing, the US was a very "free" country. But since the beginning, everything has changed. So no, freedom wasn't lost after beating the British, and had we been under British rule any longer, things would have gotten worse. The American Revolution, like the Russian Revolution, was well grounded, and well deserved. But both nations eventually lost their bearings. Had America stayed much smaller, about half of its current size, maybe less, then I truly believe that the system of government that ruled over 200 years ago would still be in place, as a much fairer and stabler government than that which lies, deceives, and steals from its people. No, the constitution is nowhere near perfect, but it did a damn good job up until it was raped by power-hungry politico-corporate pretenders.
