Listening to two songs at once

While it's generally obnoxious when my mom sings along, sort of, awkwardly passionately (thing bad American Idol, but rather than being a self-obsessed teenager she's a middle-aged woman with serious self-esteem issues) to her stupid pop songs, and, you know, I don't know what you call them, but like, Jann Arden is on right now, it's annoying. Especially if you hint at anything so much as "I'd rather listen to something else", and she gets all offended. But ignoring the less comfortable bits of my relationship with my mother, I'm listening to sort of a Tool-NIN blend on headphones with the volume turned up a bit, and in the loud parts I can only sort of hear her, and it's interesting because the keys do weird things to each other and it's all atonal and stuff.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
