P.F.S. is an organization working for an independent and sovereign nation-state through (direct and electronic) democracy, built up by free fleets, or navies, of ships in international waters and harbour cities.

We are still few in members, so we need people who can build websites and advertise with graphic design and similar, people with interest in fields like political science, and maritime industries like shipping, sailing etc., and anyone else who thinks it sounds interesting.

All questions are welcomed. Thank you.

how would this nation work? I mean would every ship be a commune? would there be head ships? but most importantly why would you want to make the sea a sovereign nation?

yes

it would work kind of like the micro-island-nations we see alot of in the pacific, only that theese islands would be transportable, to meet any economical, geographical and demographical needs.

why? well, there are lots of reasons, but the most important one would be, because of the way the world has turned out in theese modern times. Empiricism, greed, war etc. It would work as a reactionary movement, and a non-touchable freezone for freedom, democracy, equality and justice.

It is a romantic idea, and one I have thought of before now, but I have a few questions.

1. How will people live? Will you transport goods across the seas and buy your supplies that way? Or will you live off the sea directly?

2. How will you acquire the ships? A large cargo ship can be very expensive indeed.

3. How will you remain competitive and so not collapse?

How will people live?
On boats. Private, or government owned. Cruise ships, merchant & working ships, smaller boats etc. All depends on the price, availability etc., and any eventual socialist / social democratic coalision. Eventually we will have a large enough economy to aquire small islands, platforms, shoreslines and alike.

both. whatever is most profitable, and available at the moment. we will be very flexible in this matter.

2. How will you acquire the ships? A large cargo ship can be very expensive indeed.
mostly and in the start phase, we will depend on people providing their own ships, but in time this will also be aqquired by the government, through taxation, or by employers. i myself am currently working to get my ship license, and getting into a business school and provide for my own people.

3. How will you remain competitive and so not collapse?
as said earlier, this state will be very flexible, and will have many advantages by its ability to reform by the economical and demographical environment.

What is all this about? I googled "Project Freedom of the Seas" and the only thing I got related to that was this precise thread.

I don't know why one would spend their time on such...how do you say...uhh....ridiculousness.

since when does a true leftist try and get profits?

what would happen to renegade ships?

who's idea is this, yours or are you part of a larger group?

I must say this does sound very capitalist in some ways

hopefully we wont have to deal with it as the demand for beeing part of this organization will expand. otherwise they will be prosecuted, or kicked out.

the idea is pretty old, but i myselfive, and a few independent people with me, as a collective have perfected a lot of it.
