Well whoever told you this is obviosuly thick as shit.

Its just your typical stereotype of Anarchists and Anarchism like when people say "Anarchy is chaos!!!" and "No one will have to work in an Anarchist society".

My advice is to not take any notice when such shit is said.

What a load of bollocks. It's just lifestylist moralising, it's the same logic people use when they say "anarchists can't have jobs" or "anarchists can't watch TV".

Anyway, this isn't really a serious theoretical bone of contention. I'm moving it to learning, if only because it might prove controversial to move it to chit chat.

He seems to be basing his opinion on the (incorrect) understanding that anarchists oppose organisation, which we obviously don't- no matter what some people around here seem to think...

Absurd. How does being a fan of a team make you less of an anarchist?

I can't think of a good argument against being a fan of a team. It is natural to want to associate with groups - right or wrong it is a part of human psychology.

However, maybe the critique of team sports stems from the fact that professional and college athletics are nothing but capitalist tools these days. Big money is made off the objectification of minorities.

Could this be it?

i have been told this many times. along with 'you would be killed so fast in Anarchy'.

If I had wanted chaos, or to be killed, I would have said that. Those don't go along with anarchy.

When I was in grade school, they had an "expert" come in to talk to us about government. He told us that monarchies and aristocracies are good and that anarchies are bad.

I don't think he understood, and I don't think most people understand the difference between political systems.

I'm not sure I understand that. Expand and elaborate please.

That's not an opinion. It's just gibberish that stupid people say when they attempt to appear knowledgeable about a subject they wish they knew more about, but are too afraid to admit they're utterly useless and should abandon life by throwing themselves under a train.

Anarchists can be fans of team-sports. It's Objectivists who believe that any collective endeavor (aside from the forced collectivization of workers in capitalism of course) is inherently evil.

As I understand it the notion of a team is at the very heart of anarchism, socialism, and communism.
