My guess is yes. Tho I hope that Serbs wont join, for their sake.

Also, if Serbia doesnt make a fuss about Kosovo, that will speed things up even further.

It probably will, though it should be pointed out that this pro-western President is only in power because of an alliance with a party headed by a pro-Russian.

So if this pro-Russian sees that the Serb government isnt being tough enough on the Kosovo issue, he will leave the government and it will collapse.

I think that all the shit that has happened in the Balkans should serve as a reminder to people that Nationalism is a fucked up ideology that only ever leads to suffering for people.

i hope theres not another dumb nationalist war in the balkans, the kosovo issue seems to like it can be solved reasonably if you ask me.

I doubt that Serbs will try to stop the independance by force. Kosovo today is almost 100% ethnicly clean, with only Serbs left living in small isolated communities. That, and NATO is there. At least for once they did something useful!

I'm going to get disemboweled, crucified and acid-bathed for saying this, but truth is I'm a bit partial to the EU. I just like the general concept, regional and economic integration, and to a degree cultural integration, but with some maintenance of local autonomy. Of course contextualized within a horrible and pessimistic society, juxtaposed against more brutal empires. Turkish ascension I'm particularly in favour of, for all kinds of reasons, though maybe the last year or so I've been wavering a bit in that.

I partialy agree. Some of it is good. But we shouldnt forget that it is based on capitalism. I would bet my head that ordinary citizens of the EU were the last on every politicians mind, when they were starting the whole Schenghen thing. Same with Euro. I like bot things, they mean that I dont have to stop at borders when I go to another EU country, and I dont have to change currencies. But all that has a certain price.

Imo, EU is a big bureocratic machine. Dealing with everything from the Kosovo issue, to how straight bananas and cucumbers should be (and Im NOT kidding). Bureocracy, that doesnt really do us any good. Then there are worse things. Inside EU, there are no customs. There is free-transit of the workforce (not sure how that is spelled in English, hope you all know what I mean). EU is an attempt to unite countries into a one, big market, that would compete with the USA and the emerging superpower, China. Imo, anyway.

Not to stray away from the point of the thread, I hope that Serbs will be smarter than us, and stay out of the whole damn thing, Kosovo not even being an issue here.
