The Government is trying to further relax the legislation that controls the
way genetically engineered (GE) organisms are managed in New Zealand.
The legislative process is open for public submissions and Greenpeace will
be making a thorough submission on why the bill in question should be
changed to keep New Zealand’s food and environment GE free.
But it's important that as many people as possible make submissions on this
crucial issue as well. Every bit of pressure on government and industry is
crucial to keeping our beautiful country free of unwanted and unpredictable
GE organisms.
I’ve set up a form on our website for you to do just that. We've provided
the basic information so it will only take a couple of minutes but it's
good to add a paragraph in your own words and even better to do a full
submission. If you have the time to speak directly to the select committee
this is also worthwhile and you need to indicate as such on the form.
Please click here:

form.
Submissions must be posted or e-mailed by 13 June to:

Please forward this message with the URL to your friends and encourage them
to send in a submission to keep New Zealand GE free!
If you want some detailed information on how to write your own submission,
the Sustainability Council have put together an excellent resource on their
website:

And don't forget that our GE Free Food guide is still available online at

All the best and thank you for your support,
