Slumlord of South Minneapolis

this guy is a real piece of work too .... and i don't know of any groups working on this right now ...

any suggestions ... ?

Over here in Milwaukee we had a real rotten slumlord get taken down a coupla years back. These guys are really hard to fight, and since they're rich property-owners they essentially have the cops in their back pocket. The only thing I think that you can do is research the laws in Minnesota and see what they have to say about

Withholding rent
Confiscation/auctioning of propertyI would normally say that these people should withhold all/part of their monthly rent payments due to substandard conditions, which is legal but will entail some hassles that people could live without (particularly the immigrant mentioned in the newsstory).

Other than organizing a rent strike I'd research how much this guy has to fix up to keep the building, and go about it that way. In WI the city cannot take away the property at all, they can doze the buildings, but the land remains in the ownership of the slumlord. Hopefully it's better in Minnesota.
