Seriously. I was in my car and the show was about "Politics in the work place" and people were calling in from all parts of Souther California to give their views and opinions on the issue.

"Do you think is wise to talk politics in the work place?" ask the host.

3 or 4 people called all from different job fields and agreed that it <b>wasn't</b> wise to discuss politics at work because it can create an "uncomfortable environment" or "it will cause people to focus less on work"

There was even some economist who said that there was an agency that research workers' behavior and what not and it suggested that employers should not let workers talk politics!!!! HA! well no shit! how convenient Mr. Bourgeoisie researcher! Anyways I had to call and put in my 2 cents. I got through and this lady that screens calls asked me what my views where. and I told her..

<b>"I think is very convenient for our bosses and there researches to forbid us, the workers to talk politics. I mean after all the more we talk about our work condition and needs the less they can exploit us and make profit from us. We are there to make them profit, Working people should engaged in politics and discuss their options, rights and concerns. It shouldn't be discouraged! It should be every women and men's right to organized them selves in the work place so that we can.....</b>" and then i got cut off and I heard the woman tell some guy...

"did you hear him?"
"Yeah he sounds like a communist extremist, no"

Hey Sir, sorry but we won't be able to get to your call, thanks!

and I got hung up on.

I didn't get mad, because I figured the show was over.. But as i kept on listening.. I KID YOU NOT, over 10 more people phoned in and all were on the "politics are uncomfortable at work" boat..

I was enraged!!!

NPR has an agenda... and that is to keep the working man with the tail between it's legs!

FUCK THEM

That sucks! I always respected NPR but now that I hear this I must wonder "what is it that differentiates NPR and corporate media?" From this perspective, it looks like either nothing differentiates them or they have opposing agendas.

Well, this is entirely predictable. Anyone who supports the workers being treated with respect is suddenly a big government socialist. Fuck talk radio. It's on the side of the conservatives and imperialists.

Yeah I don't see how you got your hopes up about NPR.

God forbid oppressed people try to defend themselves. This kind of attitude just turns my stomach upside-down. Everyone has a right to speak... as long as they agree with the millionaires. What crud.

If it gets bad enough, they can't stop workers from talking politics.

Apply common sense, learn to be subtle, don't tell the researcher the full scope of your views and you might get thru and then do the speel, talk to the organ grinder not the monkey as the saying goes.

Understand that as revolutionary leftist your views are outside the mainstream and generally will not be given a platform unless they placed covertly.

In the U.S. you have the right to say anything you want, you just arn't going to be given a platform to say it without a fight.

They think that's "communist extremism"?

Maybe it depends on the tone of voice...

I think that in PR you can get away with saying this through a radio, especially after the May 2006 government "partial shutdown" which created the largest protest (because government employees were on the streets with no pay and the senate was discussing more taxation while the majority of the masses demanded to tax the rich and the corporations. The 2 major parties just acted as if those demands didn't exist!) in PR I ever seen.
