To all you big talkers out there, if the communist tried to seize power, would you take to the streets armed? How many of you would serve in a revolution in country, even if there is a good chance it would fail. Are you prepared to make a scarifice for the people?

That is almost a no-brainer. Of course. Even though I am white, upper middle class, male(damn, I could go far if I kept my mouth shut).

No, this is absolutely logical question. Even Che wrote in his diary that when he was in Wien in an illegal mission, he saw that a student was drawing his face on the pavement, and there were other young people watching him. And he wrote there that he knew that if he asked them to follow him, they wouldn't even get to the border of the city ...

I'd surely go. But don't know how would my other comrades act in such a crisis situation.

I would gladly join my comrades! Depending on the cause, that is.

I think it's really easy to say you'd leave your home for war until the time actually comes. I'm sure alot of you would think different if the time came. I think I'd go, that would take some balls though.

I actually think about this everyday.

Would it be better to be in the streets marching with people to the council HQ or the copshop or going up into a building a covering people via sniper fire ie taking out the cops before they can get the comrades.

I'd love to be with everyone on the ground but then again I love shooting through a scope...

I'd go. Without question. If you truly believe in something you'd fight for it.

In my country (canada)....no, it wouldn't happen, for the most part we're a very happy and content people (plus the anti-red US is next door, lol). But I'd leave my home to join a movement in another country...... it would be hipocritical of me to support armed revolution to the degree that I do and not risk my life aswell. So, without a doubt, yes.

Would we participate? I should hope we all made the leftist revolt!

the greater ur suffering, the greater ur chance of going to revolt.

Wud i? i think i wud yes, if i saw it as a valid cause, i think id take the sniper option tho, fighting street to street wud be interesting, although this shit wud all be organised at the time by the leaddership, if not there would be no point and i myself wud start to organise myself in order to make it a successful one

Lev, you seem to have a certain fascination with this subject...don't you have another thread in Opposing Ideologies about "10,000,000 communists in an armed uprising being crushed by the army"?

How can I put this? Armed struggle is a tool that may be briefly useful in a working class revolution; but the goal of communism does not exist "for the purpose" of giving us a chance to shoot at people.

If, over the course of your life, you win 100 people over to communist ideas--not as a "religion" but as a way of understanding social reality and how to change it--you have accomplished far more for the revolution than if you personally shot 100 cops or soldiers of the old regime.

As to your nominal question (would you take part, etc.?), such questions cannot be answered honestly, of course, until the time comes.

It does no harm, I suppose, to be courageous in one's imagination and perhaps even helps a little...but only the real situation reveals the real outcome.

All depends on the situation, I probably wouldn't fight, simply because I think that violence is the last resort in a bad situation, but I am not a pacifist. If the cause was good, and the conditions were right, then I would support an insurrection.

Like redstar said, it would be more useful to get 100 people to "convert"(for lack of a better word) to communism than to kill 100 of the enemy.

RedStar, of course I'm fasinated by this topic. This is how we will WIN someday. As I see it, the revolution is a spped bump, once the support is there we can win, until then it is all manuvering. I justed wanted to know if anyone will join me when I take to the streets. Oh, by the way I do try and educate people about Marx. I hand out phaplets about Marxism, and the Manifesto to those who are interested. I hope I've changed some minds.
