This is a thread about all the pretentious, the vulgar and the vacous.

All the musical processed cheese, trashy boganism and emotionally contrived scenester snobbery you can think of!

Let me start, you ****s!

Donovan Frankenreiter, Jack Johnson (Apparently they're the same person), John Butler Trio, Arcade Fire, Maroon 5, the Killers, Coldplays later stuff, Muse, The Transplants, Christian Hip-Hop, George Michael, Avril Lavigne, Arctic Monkeys, the Strokes...

I got money"

He's got the money to buy a good beat, but the lyrics make me want to kill myself.

Rage Against the Machine. (begin flaming)

Seriously, the new Matchbox 20 song pisses me off. They can go fuck themselves with their own pseudo-intellectual bullshit songwriting.

Oh, and almost the entire indy scene is so up its ass. So pompous, so libertarian, so ironically hypocritical.

Xiao Banfa

Matchbox 20 are truly horrible.

You're right, modern indie is fucking shit. When you compare it with the indie that existed in the early to mid 90's...

I also hate Korn and Queens of the Stone age.

Anything described as "pop", neo-nazi music, any music by a "boy band" or "girl band" and all "singers" that have been on televised singing competitions.

Especially when you compare it to almost any music above second year guitarist's capabilities. :p

I really (everyone will hate me for this) don't like Radiohead. I do like that whole "pay however much you want for the album" thing though.

I'm not a fan of all RHCP either

Yeah, there earllier stuff isn't great. But it's not enough to make me cringe.

There's a really shitty Coldplay rip-off in NZ called Evermore and they are seriously embarassing. They even try to imitate the way Chris Martin sings. The media in all their humiliating glory tried to paint them as the 'next big thing'.
They play their song on ads for TV channels which underscores their blandness even more.

You know that kind of tame, 'we're 'cool' in a non-threatening way and older people would probably listen us' shit.

It's so fucking bad. As a friend says it's "middle aged man on his way to work in a traffic jam in slough' music.

All new "Emo" shite

Although I don't like it personally, I have respect for bands like MCR.
They're relatively original compared to the rest of modern rubbish and they're quite unihibited.

They're more of a cult band than an out and out processed pop band.

In NZ their are alot of shit bands. What really makes it obscene is how the media hypes them up as the next big thing and fawns all over them.

The Datsuns is an example of this and the D4.

It's that kind of highly derivative 'rock and roll' or 'garage' music that was popular in the early 2000's.

I also hate Velvet Revolver, the Foo Fighters and Sean Kingston.

You're going to hell. I like Jack Johnson, Arcade Fire, Maroon 5, The Killers, Cold Play, Muse, Arctic Monkey, Avril Lavigne (this one's a long story), and gasp... some Christian hip-hop artists (Pigeon John & et. al.).

The only artists I don't like are 50 Cent, David Banner, Pitbull, and right-wing country singers.

You don't like those bands, you're just trying to freak me out.

Avril Lavigne is probably the best out of all of them cause you can have a wank while watching her videos.

I'd love to take a dump on those motherfucking titties.:D

Anything played on mainstream radio these days is shit (exceptions do exist but are hella rare).
I know I am going to get flamed for this, but I really think punk could not get much more awful to listen to if it tried. As an anarchist I have tried to enjoy it (wanted to see if there was anything to the whole anarchy and punk cliche thing) but just could not bring myself to finish listening to even one song of that horrible shit.

Hmm. I used to love punk... I grew up in the bay area in the early 90s and there was Operation Ivy and Dead Kennedys were still really popular. But if someone can tell me the name of a good punk band past '94, I'd be impressed and surprised. Leftover Crack is OK, but not earth-shattering.

The First 3 Rage Against The Machine CDs kick ass. Yes, I know, they are sell outs now but I still like them. I also love techno/trance music, i know its not talented and all done on computers but I still find it fun to listen to.

New hip-hop and rap suck
Right-Wing Country Sucks
Beatles Suck (Not John Lennon, he is awesome)
Emo sucks
Ska sucks
Nazi-Punk DEFINITELY Sucks
Dave Mathews Sucks
Maroon 5 Sucks

try Inner terrestrials or goldblade

The Beatles are one of the most cerebral, innovative and original bands ever, man! How can you say that.

It's perfect pop. They're probably the most influential band of the 20th century.

John Butler Trio

Hold it. I don't think I have any idea of who this guy is but would he be the same person as "John R. Butler"? The man who brought us "Hand of the Almighty"? If so, you die, because that's one of the most hilarious songs I've ever heard.

What planet are you fucking from?

Anyway, anything by Rod Stewart, Minor Threat, Elton John, Duran Duran, is absolutely terrible. James Blunt's vocals sounds like a baby being bashed against a car hood.

Nickleback and Theory of a Dead Man.

They are practically the same thing, which is SHIT. I once had to listen to a Theory of a Dead Man CD over and over again during a 9 hour shift washing dishes because my Bosses Mentally Challenged Sister (who she was exploiting for free labour) wanted to hear it over and over. Very close to Murder-Suicide-Arson that day...

Also, Nickleback gets its name from Chad Kruger giving change for double-doubles at Starbucks...real fucking cool. And Theory of a Dead Man? Horrible attempt at trying to sound artsy and deep.

Fuck them. Id rather listen to Hitler, Bush, Sharon, and Pinochet sing a barbershop about the many orgies they have (Hitler and Sharon strangely couple up more often than not). Id rather fucking sleep with Margeret Thatcher to the point of Ejaculation or Death (whichever comes first). They are the worst peices of shit ever, and they make me ashamed to come from the same country as them.

All those of you who say you hate trance/techno have no absolutely no fucking clue about the type of music you're talking about. Is Drum & Bass the same as Psytrance? Happy Hardcore the same as House? The answer to both of those questions comrades is no, no more than Elvis is the same as My Chemical Romance. So either learn about whatever the fuck you are criticising or shut the fuck up.

As for it requiring no skill? People who say that are truly showing their ignorance, a good electronic track still needs good composition skills and an inventive imagination, and if you are making a mix you needs a sense of rythm for it to sound good.

Okay, rant over.

Pretty much all music you see featured on the telly is utter, utter unadulterated shit. I find most rap and hip-hop to be crap as well, but there are exceptions that I personally like. I personally don't like, but can understand the appeal of such music as punk, emo, and indie.

Speaking as a metal fan, National Socialist Black Metal musicians and their fans can go die in a fire.

Any stuff that is produced by the record companies entirely these kind of artist are what put struggling musicians out of work. Where big business ie. record companies tell us what we should listen to and what we shouldn't and real musicians and people with a message are doing it tough. Thats why i have alot of respects for bands like Blue King Brown who are an aussie independant band that does it the hard way but sticks to their ethics.

Every Punk band that existed after '79.

As for the people who slag off Indie, I would agree. I love Indie, but the stuff which has appeared around and after the Arctic Monkeys has been utter shit; with a few notable exceptions.

Oh and Mark Ronson should be fucking shot for this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4kBr5WWiBM) and Katie Melua for this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNHkS__348E).

If you like these songs more than the origionals you should have your ears cut off and force fed them. If you haven't heard the origionals go and buy your selves some Smiths and Cure albums.

Oh and RATM are not good, it is an utter myth that they are; thankfully one which most people come to realise once they cease being a teenager.
