I have been thinking of starting my own Socialist club in my high school and thought that maybe there were folk out there that have already done so.
If there have been some people who have then please list how you started the club, the club's name, and maybe some advice to others about how to go about this.

Well... The first thing is to make sure that there would be other communists at your school. Because you know that the rest of the scumsbags will make fun of you and call you a "Commie Bastard". Now that I've just mentioned that, I think I'll go punch Michael in the nose.

I believe there are only three Communists at our [Klondike's and mine] school, one of whom is actualy a democratic socialist.

Some of my friends are Peace Activists. One or two are interested in Anti-Captialism and Anarchism, while the majority of the school like to pathetically label me a "hippie".

I think you are better off creating a leftist club really. It would increase the numbers.
At my school (Aus college) there are maybe 3 commies (inc. myself). To add to that, we have some Greenies and just plain leftists. But I hate to say it, added all together only amounts to a number in the teens.
My schools is ignorant...

that's why I included him.
a leftist's club? that would be horrible. The few leftists that there are, are just ignorant capitalists who like the Democratic party because thats who their parents voted for and because "it's for the people" and other ignorant remarks that come from people too ignorant to see the lack of difference between the 2 parties.
A socialist's club, though small, might actualy manage to make a difference and unite the politicaly active and sane folks in our extremely conservative town.

We have a Labor (political Party) Club but it isn't a real left wing club. I have started a
'green democratic socialist Individualistic Communist Party" so far we have two members Fred Smith and myself.

We are about 10 communists and many fights happened between us and freshmen. These fuckers are pro-bush, so we had to kick some asses.

Klondike... if you open a "communist club" in your high school there's a prety good chance of you being frozen out.
I know a guy called Daniel who is going to high school in the US and he critized the american war against Iraq. Now everybody is calling him a "commie bastard" and Stalin. So beware of the unjustice...

If/when I am in High school, I am starting a Marxian club. I am in eighth grade. (please don't be shocked, I have been a a communist for two years and I am too smart for my own good) I know some one who is planning the group with me and I intend on starting a city wide Ecological-Anarcho-Socialist Party.
Any one in my way will find a Doc Marten up their ass and another lodged in their jaw.

We've a club here at my Highschool, the Student Committee for Social Justice, although it has undergone many name changes. It's been around for almost 2 years, we've done a lot of stuff - handing out pamphlets, organising rides to anti-war protests, most recently a sit-in/walkout against the war. I'm one of the founders of the organisation. There are about 20 members, but when we have some kind of demonstration, many more join us. At the walkout, there were over 100 students (yes, we counted).
SCSJ doesn't conform to a particular ideology, and although most members are on the far left, it is rather a coalition that agrees on key points - anti-war, pro-labor and socially progressive ideas.
We've even been mentioned in the local newspaper... they did an article about our walkout.

My university has no leftwing, or even "green" clubs. There is an atheist club though, but I'm not a member. It is probably just a bunch of conservative atheists. Rightwing atheists piss me off. I demand that atheists be better then that.

i would totally start one at my school if i knew i'd have other people just as educated as jordan, my lefty ally in internat'l relations class. all my friends are like "no war" but just because i say so (whoa, it's one of the few times my opinion is revered) and sound like i know what i'm talking about. and they don't like a bunch of the righties, so it would be reason enough for them. but if i were to start one, i'd want a leftist club of actual political SUBSTANCE.

For whoever asked, yes we have clubs at school, but I don't know how to start one, I think I'll ask my principal. But what will she think about a Socialist Club? Should I afiliate myself with a socialist party so that my club will actualy stand for something?

I would have liked to have a Socialist club at my high school but apart from the fact that you don't really know who's commie unless you go round and ask them personally, the school management would most probably disapprove :) Ignorance of politics is a really big problem in my school. Say I had started a club, and given out a basic outline of socialist/communist ideology, then I would have got a bunch of Avril Lavigne wannabes showing up being all "No war! Yeah we RAWK!" and not actually having anything to say or any opinions on real issues. Anyone who did have an opinion would have been too busy with detention/suspension to be there. Thank fcuk I'm leaving in a couple weeks :D

my friends and i are palnning to start a similar club next year. what you must do is just "go for it"...
whether people show up or not, in time, spread the word, you can even turn it into a political debate "forum" of sorts. we all know that our socialist ways are supreme so in the end you will be always be right ;-) anyway. im sorry to say that i do have about 10 start-up members who will be with me and it seems that ur less fortunate, but it doesnt matter! rally support. u can do it. and abt those avril lavigne grls...u the point of the club should be to share views and "enlighten" others so, u should want them to be there...anyway, good luck

I actually have a pretty cool principle who probably wouldn't care if I started such a club. Reading this has made me want to... it will probably only be one communist and a couple of "social democrats".

try to find other commies and get socialists and other marxists-Leftists to join. Or you could just have an underground club.
