They're basically right about the Bible though, I mean, if they paid a bit less attention to homosexuality and a bit more to foreskin they'd be pretty much spot on.

I've been so pissed off at Phelps and his WBC cronies for the past year that nothing they do surprises me anymore. Seriously they need to get a life instead of making asses of themselves by picketing funerals. People like them are the worst kind of people.

oh come on, we all know that westburo baptist aren't real fascists, they're a troupe of performance art students parodying the extreme religious right (or something like that).
Real fascists are patriotic/nationalistic, they're just the opposite.

What if the funeral took place in Australia? Would they travel over there?

Can't anything be done? Is it legal to picket a funeral? It really sickens me that they're going to heap further misery on to his family. ****s.

I feel sorry for the children, though. Growing up in a family that tries to control everything about you the way the Phelps do must be hell on earth, literally. I was absolutely sickened when I saw young children who couldn't have been older than 8 or 9 holding up "god hates fags" signs.
For me the WBC is a mini version of scientology, a dangerous cult that controls every aspect of the lives of its members and brainwashes them until they are puppetts.
When people like Fred Phelps or his fanatic daughter have any kind of power, the whole of society is in danger. They felt absolutely no remorse for picketing the funeral of Matthew Sheppart and yelling insults at his teary-eyed mother, just because the kid happened to be homosexual.
Sick, sick, sick, sick

when it had on the BBC footage of these sickos protesting at funerals of soldiers (the war my not be justified but it doesnt matter) it was just wrong, teaching children hate is plain wrong can American 'social services' not take the kids away or something?
they also protested against all of Sweden, dumb fuckers, when the revolution comes religious fanatics shpuld be amongst the first delt with, along with all the other fascists

You're right. Simple mindedness is a disease that is passed on from one to another.

Ledgers was not gay, he played one of the main characters in a film back in 2006 called Brokeback Mountain, about two gay cowboys in rural America.
From this I gather that the Westbro Baptist Church consider him to be a 'propagandist for homosexuality'.

They're a joke, a bunch of morons, a family of extreme attention seekers, and have no one in thier church who is not a family member. So much for manipulating minds. They're crap ignore em like you do with any other attention seeking little shite.

They're a joke, a bunch of morons,
so was the group around David Koresh at Wako, so was Charles Manson, so are all of the other religion sects (usually of 7th day Adventists) that arise and gain support in America, true the seperate groups aren't worth paying attention to and aren't large enough to be dangerous but collectively religious zealot sects in USA are of worrying size even if they are of little influence

I just lost a bet. I thought that Phelps & Co. would have announced their intentions a lot sooner than two days after Ledger passed.

Well, it's in NYC, so maybe the local government's penchant to stifle protests will work in our favor for once.

The real dangerous religious nutters in the U.S. are the ones who run your country, Phelps and his family are definitely not part of that group, they have attracted only one person to thier church outside of family, and he married one of them. Given the amount of publicity they've had and still not increased the flock makes them definitely not in the high threat catagory, more a comical distraction.
Koresh and the rest led groups of converts, that made them dangerous, 7th day adventists have thousands that makes them a force to be rekoned with, baptists have millions that makes them politically powerfull, westborough bapist church have 1 extended family, that makes them impotent.

Sorry dude, my bad.
Look through these forums theres been at least half a dozen threads on WBC in the last 6 months, in comparison to how many on say the scientologists or the mormon fringe groups. These attention seekers are given way more publicity than thier significance

The WBC's protests at military funerals actually caused a law to be passed prohibiting picketing within a certain distance from a funeral. These vicious fuckers have been protesting at victims of hate crime's funerals for longer, while the media has paid scant attention to that. Hypocrisy.
What's their justification, BTW?
