After being discouraged by the headline that announced the bankruptcy of the great canadian crown corporation, I found a gem at the bottom of the front page of the globe and mail (Toronto)

it seems a bus load of american hockey players(it gets even funnier) arrived in quebec just in time to witness a protest. the article describes the revulsion of the busload of pigs as the cool quebec canadians burnt american flags and hurled insults at them during the march. it made me, once again, proud to live where I do.

then it goes on to describe how the fascists went to a montreal game and left after the first period because the american anthem was booed. well, last I checked, the american teams fans had booed the Canadian anthem roughly a year ago, just days after the american war machine "accidently" dropped bombs on canadian soldiers and killed four of them. those capitalist pigs are lucky they left. my french brothers would have torn them limb from limb if they had been the proud pigs they so often pretend to be.

SEE YA!

About Canadian Airlines...it was privatized and deregualted, which has alot to do with where it is today.

Youa re in Ontario then? What do you think about the NDP's platform. It is democratic socialism in practice. Taxing the rich, illegalizing private health, raising minimum wage, and decreasing tution among other things.

Well, good thing that they are resisting to the power that the US generates around the world.
But protests against the war should be taken in peace, not burning things, or destroying anything at all.
You guys should realize that our problem is against the politicians and the politics (external) of the US, our problems are not the americans.
Anyway i´m glad that there is a resistance over there!!

crazy:

ndp has a great platform, but I am difficulty believing it

dont get me wrong, I've never voted anything but NDP in the provincial arena, but they know full well that they don't have much of a chance

I'm backing the liberal reds this time through

have you ever heard Rosario Marchese speak in legislature? that guy is amazing. I would like to see someone like him run the province and flip off the multinationals, just like trudeau did back in the day

You're either Canadian or your not. No more French Canadian, English Canadian, Chinese Canadian, Indo-Canadian. I mean it's quite rediculous should we now start teaching kids in BC schools how to talk like Noufies, because they waht to claim a seperate culture?

western canada considers themselves mroe american than canadian, so they can go to hell

the only thing that truly defines canada is quebec, God bless 'em

Fuck you how do you know that. I've lived here my whole life and I'll agree that Alberta is part of the states. But trust me BC is proud to be Canadian. All of BC except for some of those rich people in my city.

outside of this board, all the westerners are saying that "they're ashamed" to be canadian because of the federal anti war stance

your federal representatives are all right wing sickos who believe that the flintstones was a documentary

as for you, no offence

obviously there are going to be those that oppose the right wing majority, however, the figures support what I'm basically asserting

only in canada does saying your're proud to be canadian go against the majority opinion

NO, that's Alberta you fucking retard. And even in Calgary, Canada's hotbet of Americanism, the anti-war protests drew like 6 times more people than the pro-war ones did. Don't listen to the media, dumbass.

I'm sorry it's just that I have always had deep content for the states. Being called a yank envokes great fury within me. In Vancouver the Pro-war protestors weren't even 200 strong.

allright cowboy, whatever

dint I say I was sorry?

but to be honest, anything west of ontario is pretty shitty. never been there, but oh well

I just remember seeing westerners, I forget where, chucking wheat at Trudeau because he kept quebec in confederation

in ontario, the liberal mindset is that the west has become dissillusioned. I've seen documentaries with hordes of western farmers ADMITTING they have more in common with america than central canada. of course, that could be media spin.

did I mention I was sorry if I offended you?

and you need not remind me that the NDP has its origins in the west. all I really know is that their federal representatives are complete boneheaded, redneck hicks who support fascism. and I don't like any of them. at all.

Thankyou for the apology,

But you've still got it wrong. Yes, the praries suck with a few small exceptions. But Southern BC is awesome.

Aswell BC was one of the major hotbeds of the union movement during the 20's, there were constant pro-communist demonstrations/riots. (hardly american if you ask me)

And you know the funny irony about all this is that most western Canadians think of Americanism coming from your end of the country. Allthough the Albertan's are just scary.

oh, u should have said the WEST COAST

theres the west coast, the west, ontario, quebec, and the east coast.

west coast is BC
west is alberta, saskatchewan, manitoba
east coast is newfoudland, newbrunswick, pei and novascotia

There is too much pro americanism in Ontario. Our fucking premier even sent an open letter congradualting the US Ambassador on his speech. But the people are openly not, and the next election will fail anyways.

We see Alberta as the hotbed of annexionism. It an outrage, though, when the 4000 strong pro US demostration got more media coverage than the 250 000 anti war one in Montreal. Pitiful.

Western Canada was the birth place of the CCF, and I think it was Manitoba that had the first socialist government in the americas...

hazard, i'm glad you cleared that up about the west coast, because Vancouver fsking rocks. :)
i live in Ottawa right now, but it's been my life-long dream to relocate to Vancouver as soon as a graduate from high school. And for the record, Ottawa is a shithole.

I am relocating to Ottawa when I am done highschool! This fall! For university at carleton. It is a much nicer city than any of the other 3 that I have been in! (of that size)

hazard
7th April 2003, 04:34
yeah, I hear carleton is allright

I opted for windsor rather than carleton when I went

dangerous, scary, americanized and dirty
glad I made the right decision.

also, windsor sports some of the most critical and effective tools against corporate propaganda in their philosophy department. windsor is the birthplace of "Informal Logic", and you'll find out about it regardless of what university you go to.

all my friends went to carleton

none of them any bad things to say about it, most are working decent jobs

yeah, if you got a problem with america, definately don't go to windsor

I didn't even know where windsor was until it was too late

I mean, literally, I"m spending my summer lighting up american flags and next thing I know I'm dropped off within spitting distance of detroit. when my folks were driving through windsor to the school, the two skylines merge and you got some buildings with flags just itchin to get torched and others with canada red. I had no idea where I was or what I was getting into. God was it fun, tho.

When you come here. try and lives anywhere but surrey, north Burnaby, or East Vancouver. If you do move there then make sure you have lots of weapons.
