so today is the day the war started, so at least in the uk(i dont know about the rest of the world) theres been protests in all cities, and some larger towns. how did it go?
some dumbass police nearly caused a riot at the one i went to. they tried to limit people marching to the sidewalk. with at least 700 there, it got a bit nasty, as you can imagine, but luckily it was at the tail of it, so it didnt get too big.
but how did everyone elses go? thinknig about it im fairly sure it is actually a worldwide protest.

in my hometown ( Hannover ), which is fairly small there were about 3000 people ( or maybe more? ) attending the protest. Our mayor spoke against the war and called the war on iraq "an act of american agression" ( I like our Mayor, even though he's with the social democrat party :) ).

After the protest was over, the people decided spontaneously to do another protest, and marched towards the government district. The police immediately tried to attack the protest march, but quickly had to give it up, because there were too many people, and the police wasn't prepared for the protest march.
( In theory ) all spontaneous demonstrations are legal in Germany.

Beginning with Mo the 24th there will be a protest march each monday at 18:00 and another big one on Sat. the 29th.

From www.malaysiakini.com (http://www.malaysiakini.com):

Police make arrests, fire tear gas at anti-war protesters

4:25pm Sat Mar 29th, 2003

Police arrested several anti-war protesters and fired tear gas and water cannons about 30 minutes ago in Kuala Lumpur at a anti-war demonstration organised by some 20 opposition political parties and non-governmental organisations.

It is learnt that o*ne of those arrested was Dr Syed Husin Ali, president of Parti Rakyat Malaysia* (PRM). Other senior opposition figures were also believed to be among those nabbed.

About 1000 people had gathered at the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) at 2.45pm. They had intended to march towards the United States embassy in Jalan Ampang.

The police moved in soon after and ordered the crowd to disperse within 30 minutes. But about 700 people remained and later marched towards the Australian High Commission where scuffles were witnessed after police tried to disperse them.
