Just watching an al-Jazeera English thing about Sarkozy in the Gulf making nuclear deals, and you hear a couple mentions about French military bases in the region.

So the question, which countries other than the States have military bases in foreign countries, and where?

I know that Britain controls the Akrotiri & Dhekalia military bases in Cyprus.

The French Foreign Legion has bases to train and guard the border of, their former colonial territory, Djibouti.

Here is a map of all the US military bases all over the world (A true Empire if i ever saw one):

So America has not one base in Africa?

I very much doubt it, since they had a recent 'liberation' war there not too long ago.

The map is probably a bit old.

There is a much better map of US military bases worldwide but i couldnt find it.

It doesn't look like it includes the anti-missile defense bases being built in pretty much every Eastern European nation except for Belarus.

Also, the Pentagon has acknowledged that besides the 725 or so bases they list, there are at least a few dozen secret bases.

And no map of the Empire can be complete with mentioning their advantages in space.

Yeah, Dr. Chalmers Johnson talks about the empire of American bases around the world. I think the number is 737 ---by the last count.

Check out his two books:

It's missing the bases in Puerto Rico and Cuba...

Maybe the reason why they don't have it in certain countries is because the US might rent the use of an ally's (like a member's of NATO) base. I bet many European countries have bases in Africa and the US would just ask permission/rent one of those bases if they have anything to do in Africa. (I might be wrong but it's a possible explanation...I suppose).
