View Full Version : Finally found something commies do well

I occasionally press my nose against the window of the elite rooms here, admission to which is forbidden me because I am a rich capitalist (smart and handsome too). Today I chanced upon the "recipes" board in the "DIY" forum or somesuch. I opened it gingerly, assuming I would there receive instructions on how to make Molotov cocktails. But no! There were some very sophisticated vegetarian recipes that looked most appealing. I will try some and encourage all my fellow reactionary running dogs to do likewise.

At the other end of the spectrum, there is the laughably pathetic "Stealing from Subway" thread that gives tips on how to steal food. This means stealing from the very fine Subway sandwich franchise, not the "underground."

But I am inspired by the commie recipe thread, and I salute their commitment to good health.

Edited to delete reference to beer, bread, mustard and horse jerky.

i agree, stealing from subway is stupid. Last time i tried their 'roast beef' sandwich i almost threw up.

I'd rather make my own sandwiches.

subway once gave me £20 too much change. does that count as stealing? :D

subway once gave me £20 too much change. does that count as stealing? :DNot to me. Although I'd probably give it back, since I heard somewhere that the employees have to make up for that with their own pay.:(

I haven't had Subway in a while. Their stuff is alright, but I've been eating at Cousin's Subs, and Quizno's Subs instead.

eh, some of subway's subs are nice, especially their assorted ones. But some times they add too much mayo, and that's a real turn off for my taste buds.

And a lot of communists I know of aren't very mature and just do what they do because they hate their dad. But, some, like redstar2000 and Che Y Marijuana are not just class conscious, but conscious of themselves and their own presence -- they are self-aware -- and know what they want as individuals in their every day lives and aren't just teens bumming food away from subway over to their punk commune so they just survive and make through the day. Basically, these are people who are unplugged, they rejected their parents because they didnt like being told what to do and they rejected decent cooking and basic life skills (like tying shoes sometimes!) in the process.

They are social retards

That wasn't worded very well in the end.
I agree if it is the 'communist' kiddies are the ones you are talking about.
I disagree if you are leveling that criticism towards RS2K and CyM.

yeah I did feel bad about that.

all I can say is I was a little shit at the time (it was a few years ago :p), and I wouldn't do the same thing today.

oh and I wasn't a communist then either, and didn't live in a commune (still don't).

I wasn't. I mean, I'm not genius at the english language, but thats a personal fault. If we as communists want to our arguments to be treated with respect, we should treat others with respect during our public discourse. It's typically the cops (whom we hate) who always shoot first and ask questions later, lets not be like those bastards whom we intend to overthrow.

And yeah, I highly respect both of those members anyways, in fact, I learned most of what I know from redstar. You could say he was my redstart

hehe.

Yeah, there is a lot of stupid stuff floating around these forums (most of the people posting here are teenagers fueled by rabid sensationalism instead of theory intertwined with practice, not Marxists.), and DIY is largely composed of lifestyleist nonsense. No seasoned Marxist advocates that crap.

If you are trying to find out about serious Marxists in an in-depth manner, you are not going to get it done by fishing around an internet forum.

If you are looking for delicious vegetarian/vegan recipes, I am your man.

Although it isn't the only thing I do well at. I had a %25 growth on investments I had last year.

yay profit!! -.-

Fuck subway and all those massive american multinational companies, i would rather give my money to local smaller shops in my little city of Carlisle, than fund their world sandwich domination,

my local sandwich shop had a christmas baguette, really can anyone think of a better idea, turkey, stuffing, gravy, (veg if ya wanted it)

Why do you favor small companies over large companies? Why is small capitalism better than big capitalism?

Dr Mindbender

Has anyone heard of O'Brien's Irish sandwich bar? They're pretty big in the UK but i dont know about elsewhere. Their sandwiches are about 100x better than subway's IMO.

They're less inclined to exploit their workers?

Subway is pretty gross and pretty over-priced. If I had to go with a chain, I would go with Blimpie's.

They're less inclined to exploit their workers?

Really? You'll have to demonstrate that phenomenon to me for me to buy it. In fact, I'll offer up a counter-example.

Starbucks offer their workers competitive wages (generally a little over $8/hr), stock options, as well as medical benefits (even for part-time employees). This is substantially more than their small-business coffeshop counterparts.

Also, are you suggesting that small business' don't exploit their employees? Maybe that's why 9 out of 10 businesses fail their first year! XD

Holden Caulfield
13th January 2008, 13:59
they are less inclined to explot thier workers yes obviously this is why,
when there is one shop with say 3 staff including the manager they are very very petty-petty-bourgosie,

dont you think small local shops are better than massive multi-nationals?

Im not suggesting they dont exploit their employees per se, just not to the same extent as McDonald's or Walmart.

If you read Naomi Klein's No Logo she argues that business practice often deteriorates in proportion to the growth of the brand name.

No, not at all.

chimx, i understand your rationale, but look at it this way. It isnt always practical or feasible for everyone to become self sufficient because we have to live within the restrictions of the capitalist system. For the better part, we are committed to 40hr a week jobs and not everyone has the time to sit around growing vegetables.
Without small businesses, we'd have to live off the much larger corporations which are clearly the worse of 2 evils.

have you not read Ulster Socialist's post, there is one of my reasons

Are we talking about the same Subway? The one where you pay 7$ for a mostly bread sandwhich that tastes like cardboard and some chips? Stealing food from there would be a punishment.

Holden Caulfield
13th January 2008, 15:23
7$ what is that in pounds.. now about a 50p, haha the american economy is falling,
death to the empire

Most big businesses start small. They get big because we all want what they offer at the price they demand. If we didn't want the product, it would never get funding for its factories and land acquisitions and advertising and all the rest.

If you don't like Subway, that's fine. I just don't understand why you assume they exploit their workers any differently than the small, independent shop owner does (go open a sandwich shop and tell us how the 'ee benefits are greater than Subways'). I also don't understand what gives you the right to force consumers to discontinue going to Subway by advocating theft of their product.

I didnt say it was, i was merely providing an alternative perspective.
