Im expecting to get alot of people pissed off with me here but... Have any of you REALLY thought about the plusses as well as the minusses to a war with Iraq? I personally am niether for or against it. Its just, surly it is good to get rid of a dictator, a man who has oppressed his people for years and tested weapons on them. HOw can liberating the people be a bad thing? My concerns are: 1, Oil being taken away fromthe country where as it SHOULD be given over to the people of Iraq after the country has been liberated, 2, what is going to replace Saddam, 3,whether this is just one big excuse for the USA to flex its military arm and 4, WHERES THE PROOF? Sorry if u lot get pissed by my neither 4 or against view, but what do you all think?

I'm all for removing Hussein from power, but not through war, I'm sure there are other possibilities out there... war is just going to stir the hornet's nest in an already troubled area.

Removing Saddam from power does not justify the killing of at least 500,000 innocent civilians. I agree that Saddam should be overthrown, but how will raiding Iraq with nuclear weapons liberate it's people? Hussein should indeed be removen from power, but a full-scale war is not neccesary to do so. The U.S. only intend to wage this war in order to set up it's own puppet regime and gain control over Iraq's resources.

I don’t think much good is going to come out of a war with Iraq. If the war somehow leads to the freedom of Kurdistan then it may serve some purpose but I doubt that it will. America doesn’t care about freedom.

We must think about the innocent victims that this war will cause. What justifies the deaths of millions of people? I fail to think of anything.

Red Rage, you are hitting what i think, the topic should be pros and cons of having a war to the communist revolution, to the pros and cons of not having one.

OOOO!! ill start!

War:
Pro Con
weakened US, American people
loss of allies more "patriotic"
easier to fall

WW3: War, Death, WW3: World in turmoil,
destruction economies destroyed, we
fix

No- War:
Pro Con
Economy still stable, US is as strong as ever,
world is not in WW3 wont fall easily

? Any more? This is relating to the COMMUNIST REVOLUTION, not in general

So you are saying that a 3RD WORLD WAR is good? are you insane? There wouldnt be any world to make communist after it. Lets be serious, who thinks that a war in Iraq will light the fuse for a 3rd world war? Its possible but unlikely. The only thing I can think of happeneing to cause that is if the neighbouring countries of I raq (most of which are dictatorship run), who all are extremely against war becasue the thought of a "democratic" country starting a trend in the area, turning against the USA and the west and declaring war on the world. What do you guys think?

A 3rd world war does have its good points. We get to start over. This particular war wont start WW3, but it will start the downward trend to it. I AM INSANE, ask, a person, somebody....

There are two points I want to make on your post, RedRage.

1- Saddam tested American weapons on his people, with American support. (On a side note, the US government is also guilty of testing weapons on its own populace)

2- This slaughter will not lead to the liberation of the Iraqi people. The UN have estimated that around 500,000 will die as a direct result of the assault on Iraq, and that somewhere around 3,000,000 more will die indirectly through starvation and disease brought on by the "war."
Also, there will be a new dictator put in Saddam's place - one who will likely be as despotic (if not more so) than Saddam, who will be a puppet of the US empire.

Saddam's joined his current ruling party, called Al Ba'arth, in 1956.
That SAME party that was supported by the CIA in order to overthrow the Prime Abdul Karim Kassim in 1963(probably cos there was lot of leftists ideas in the region at that time).
Saddam might be an oppressive tyrant, yet my despise goes mostly to those who helped him get to power and rule the country for the past decades...

Tyranny never ends my friend, its like the Hydra in ancient mythology (if i recall well) ; u cut one head, and two new ones come out instead!

CiaranB is correct. The only plus I have seen about this war is in the intelligence of the well informed mass opposition. As also shown by Zombies post.

bad points to war:

- it will create another wave of anti-western, pro-terrorist Muslims.

- it will kill as many as 3,000,000 people.

- it will undermine the UN to a point where there will be no such thing as international law. basically sending us back another 70 years.

- it will give the United States a free hand anywhere in the world. creating more resentment and more wars.

- it will destablise the region creating maybe another Islamicist government.

- if Hussein does have WMD, whats he gonna do with them if America and Britain invade? he's gonna fucking use them!

- the countries involved in the attack will make there own people prone to terrorist attacks even though the people do not want the war.

- it will be un-democratic, especially in the UK, for such a big step to be taken without the support of the people.

- economically, it will be a disaster for the west and the middle east.

- in a desperate last act, Hussein may give weapons to Bin Laden.

good points for the war:

- Hussein goes.

- possible nation for Kurdistan.

the bad outweigh the good by far. and Hussein going actually cancels itself out if hes replaced with another Ayatollah. and a nation for Kurdistan cancels itself out if so many Kurds die.
