Haj, I don't know if the admins have given you a second chance or not. It may just be that the board changes have unrestricted OI members.

I actually think that this unrestriction is just a temporary state of affairs for all the restricted members and is the result of the change to a new database.

Mind you if you stick to the rules you probably wont be restricted again if any of the Admins and Mods wish to re-restrict those unrestricted OI'ers.

Perhaps the amount of sections that OI'ers are restricted from have changed?

Perhaps the amount of sections that OI'ers are restricted from have changed? No, I heard it was just a problem with the board conversion. Hajduk should definitely be unrestricted, in my opinion however.

Why was he restricted anyway? Seemed like a nice fella

Unrestrict him and put him out of his misery.

Unrestrict him and put him out of his misery.

I agree.

It was the language barrier that was the biggest reason for his restriction IMO.

That didn't have anything to do with it, Admin Actions says he's a Nationalist.

wasnt there talk of unrestricting him on a probationary basis?

I think it should be acted on. :(

NATIONALIST? I think its a misunderstanding, the idea of nationalism at this board is pretty weird...

Hadjuk's ideas on the Jugoslavian national question was an issue of serious debate in the CC. Members can become unrestricted, of course.

Haha, poor guy.

Anyway, he's certainly trying to be nice, but I can understand why he was restricted. When he first came in here, he started posting in ALLCAPS a lot, on such subjects as "the Albanian people" using "the Albanian mob". Later on, in several discussions with DJ-TC, he continued to troll, accuse DJ-TC of "hating muslims" (Bosniaks, for perspective), refusing to admit that Bosnia and Herzegovina is as much of a capitalist state as any, said that Serbs are "frustrated" because of "Turkish blood", called the Serbs in Bosnia a "cancer", demanded responsibility of all Serbs for the actions of the Chetniks, promoted a movie that was propaganda for Izetbegovic, accused DJ-TC of being poisioned by Serbian radicals, accused the majority of Serbs of supporting Chetniks...

RevLeft members do not need to suffer being discriminated by each other on the basis of their nationality, nor do we need any generalisations about specific nationalities. Regardless of what I think of spartan, I'm not going to call him a Welsh sheepfucker. Also, if a Serb had called Croatians or Bosnians generally fascist, and upheld Serbian radicals, he'd be restricted in a heartbeat, and rightly so.

The issue of his unrestriction came up in late October, but at the time, DJ-TC informed us that most people on the West Balkans forum were glad to see Hajduk gone, and were asking for him to remain restricted.

Yes, he has had Nationalist arguments and has been somewhat of a troll, from what I read; our Moderator Rosa has especially encountered this in threads in Research & Online Classes

I think everybody on the Revolutionary Left should be welcome at RevLeft. I mean, if you use the word "patriot" about yourself you get restricted. I think everyone should be welcome as long as long as they share our views on the most important topics like economy, etc. and as long as they are not racist or anything like that.

And when I say everybody is welcome, I mean even stalinists. Dont get me wrong, I hate stalinists, but ideally they should be welcome at the board.

Yeah, you can accuse stalinists of being unmarxist at times because your opinion or analysis differs creatly from theirs, but what Hadjuk said wasn't even part of a marxist or anarchist current. It is infected with (nationalist) prejudice towards certain peoples.

"Everybody" should be welcome, but there are limits and Hadjuk had plenty of discussions before he got caged.

Also when you consider that he directly experienced alot of what happened in the Jugoslav wars you can hardly blame him for feeling a little bitter about it and the people who predominantly caused most of the suffering (And started it all).

I haven't been in a f-ed up situation like that, so me passing judgement on him like that is idiotic.

So you believe that the Serbian people as a whole caused the majority of the suffering, and started it all?

Tower of Bebel
17th January 2008, 09:33
Even if you were a victim of war, then it is still not clear to me why you should make a whole people responsible for this and why you have to put all sorts of prejudice on the board when you can have a marxist understanding of the whole situation. It's all here. There were some discussions and every marxist point of view was ignored.

No not all of them!

And thats the problem as Hajduks poor English led him to use terms like "people" instead of "some of the people".

This led people to think that Hajduk hated all Serbs when in actual fact he told me that he had many Serb friends.

Most langauge problems are grammar, and spelling. Are you sure he also has problems with vocabulary, especially with easy words like "some"?

The CC can release him from his cage, it's up to someone to start a thread. Now, I might do it, but I must see some of his posts in the OI since his last thread in the CC.
