the rebels are socialists seeking reform and an end to the massive exploitation, i think the issue here is that the media is ignoring this portraying the conflict as tribal warfare when that has so little to do with the conflict, when it is a class struggle (albeit where the higher classes are still far poorer than western standards)

I don't think that's true, it's the two main tribes that have been fighting Kukuyo<not sure about the spelling> andI forget the others, the presidential candidate whof lost is a center left politician no socialism

It has nothing to do with Socialism, Class Warfare or Tribal warfare .

Its the Luo faction (opposition) and other factions against the Kikuyu (Government) and the police . Essentially people against government . Its being painted off as some 3rd world tribe war by the western media .

If you read the link it goes on about kenya being a very weak democracy which is fueling the conflict .

On the news they say that Kenya is/was a stable democracy...

The way I see it is that the election were rigged, and the people protested. However many protested by attcking supporters of the government, who were from x tribe. And thus giving the politically motivated situation its Tribal side

China has been trying to gain influence in Africa lately, I wonder if kenya's troubles are a result of PRC meddling?

When African nations fight each other, it's tribal strife; when European tribes fight among them, it is the national question...

Neither side in Kenya are socialists; the opposition even named themselves after the notorious neoliberal Ukrainian movement (Orange). Whether or not the elections were effectively rigged, I don't know.
