My school is very conservative...I dunno what would be the point if I skipped that day...I think I still will, but I don't think anyone will notice.

Also, some people argue that this idea is very stupid because the whole point of the student strike is "books not bombs" but why would we not go to school to get more funding for education? just a question posed by some imperialists. any answers?

Oooh, I wonder if some other people could be encouraged to do it at my school.... It would show our lazy Conservative headteacher what we think of him taking down anti-war posters....

I will be there!

Basically all it is is a students strike. The government is spending way too much money on military purposes neglecting to fund things such as education.

As well as buying their own books Uni students are acquiring Hecs debts that they have to pay back to a government that is continuing to fund state organised terrorism. More and more Uni students are falling below the poverty line. Does anyone else think that that is fucked?

EDUCATION SHOULD BE FREE!!

I'm still in highschool. But I'm looking at 13000 for first year I have 3000. The highest demographic group declaring bankruptcy are people who just finished their Undergrads, too much debt. So what does the government do? Make it illegal for anyone iwth a student loan to declare bankruptcy!~

Hmm, as soon as a person i know very well,(she is on the school board) gets it in the newspaper. I have a deep feeling Florida will not be having the FCAT.(if you know what it is...)

Pete
22nd February 2003, 15:18
What is the FCAT? Some sort of stupid standardized test?

Blibblob
22nd February 2003, 18:24
Yep, Florida ____(something, cant remember) Assesment Test.

Costs a shit load of money, if you dont pass it in 10th grade, you dont graduate.

See what the stupid Bush family is doing. Also, thanks to wonderful Jeb Bush, if the school doesnt get an overall of some odd score on the FCAT, they are classified as an F school, and almost all funding is droped. A schools get the funding that the F schools lost.

We have a grade 10 literacy test. If you fail it in grade 10 you fail. But it is free.

Blibblob
22nd February 2003, 18:32
It only costs the students and their parents money through raised taxes. But it is your literacy test, with about 50 more pages of other shit added. Takes forever to grade also.

Don't go on strike. That's ridiculous, you won't accomplish anything, you'll just fuck up your grades and get suspended.

It would be so great if all the students around the world get together against the war...
But the problems is that some of us live in very conservative countrys, where we don´t have support from our school, teachers, or anyone except from other students...

My grades are already fucked up anyways.. They dont teach me anything, and i dont do hw, or classwork. The only reason i get Cs and a few Ds is cause i ace tests.

But, the young do outnumber the adults. And the very young are quite brainwashable... Or we could just show the truth and hope they get it.

But a bit of persuation can go a long way... My school had zip communists that knew who Marx was... Now its a bit different

"But, the young do outnumber the adults."

Are you in N. America? If you are then that is not the case. Have you hear of the 'baby boom'?? In about 20 years the predition is over half the population will be above 50!

argh, i didn't see this post so i made a new topic...

Yeah, kids at my school are planning to do it, a few of us are spreading the word around, what I'm afraid is some of the idiots at my school are going to find this as an excuse to just get out of class and cause some havoc.

March 5th at noon... let's make it happen.

lol

People at my school are stupid. Theyd strike without reason. SKIP CLASS!!

(so maybe ill start it up...)

SHIT!!
I just rememberd something. I live close to McDill Airforce base. The national base. The war will basically be lead from there. But i need help, i cant manage to arrange an entire pickett line, IM ONLY 15!

I need some help, ill pass out flyers, but as of yet, i have seen no organized strike (other than that against the FCAT, at least that will get me out of school).

i havent been able to participate in strikes or boycotts, and need a little help, cause nobody else near me cares.

eh, the one at our school has been called off due to some recent problems.

there was a big fight last friday, it was between hispanics and blacks, which caused increased security and precautions at our school, and my girlfriend, who's the one that's pretty much passing out the flyers and promoting it, was called by one of the deans, and he said that she will get arrested and expelled if she went on with this... so we decided to call it off, and just spread anti-war propaganda.

Damn, sucks for you. The administration is ignoring what im doing. But im woried that ill be expelled from the magnet im in if i go ahead with it. Oh well, the way im going now, my grades will get me kicked out.

Pete

I only do homework that I have to hand in. So my assignmnets. Fuckkk. Maybe I'lll just call in sick to my job and school that day. I have a cold know, it can just get 'bad' for that day because of all the bullshit coming from America. 'Liquer drips through dotted lines'

eh, same here....no one would give a fuck if i walked out of class cause i have always followed the rules so they will think i am sick or something.

it would be better to hang a giant sign draped over the entire front wall of the school though, so when people go to school they see it.

Well all of my walk out plans where cancelled by a fine dumping of snow that clog up the backroads soooo badly that most kids in my school who live on farms or in little villages can't get here :) SNOW DAY!!!
