This week is anti-war week for college campuses on the west coast, and i think the east coast as well. on this monday, some fellow members of the Davis Peace Coalition put out in the free speech area of our quad visual representations of some of the US interventions, with sheets on each nation, including what happend, what were the consequences, death counts, and the sources for the information. the pictures below are not the entire of what was out, but rather only a chunk of what was put out. a good portion of this is that while i was there, i saw many people stop walking to where they were walking to, stop, take a look at one, read, then move onto another, then another. a good example of something that can be done with some research, and teach some people some, perhaps even get some to question things, or even go and do their own research. i appologize for the size of the pictures, but if they were smaller, i dont think you would be able to read the countries names as well as you can now.

Great idea comrade.
How was the response to the Afghanistan one?
I'm currently wearing a Peace Now, No War T shirt for my job. I've been getting a little bit of shit about it from a few people who think the war is justified.
Today a xian guy who I was talking to said he'd like to kill all the muslims. I was leading him down this track to make him see the absurdity of what he was saying, only he didn't think it was so bad after he said it.
I'd just finished saying something like- you don't really think muslims want to kill all the xians anymore than you want to kill all the muslims do you?
He replied he did want to kill them all.
The sad part is he's from the poor part of town and I could really see the negative effects that xianity is having in regards to the peoples opinions on the war.

I don't see China.
Of all the countries in the world, the US has made the most military interventions in China. 19 times in total I believe.

MJM: the response to the afghanistan one was not bad at all. in fact, from what i am told, while we were attacking Afghanistan, some students here held a rally against it, which attracted about 300 people. the one that cause the most trouble was Palestine. a grad student here on student visa from Ramallah got into a 45 minute heated debate with a 50+ year old guy from the town, who she said was 100% zionist and gave her a hard time. she said that when she went back to the free speach area later in the day, somebody had covered the Palestine cut out with a drap that said "Jordan is Palestine." i barely heard about this incident tonight from her, but it doesnt surpise me.

Pinko: i did not take pictures of all of the displays. i only took pictures of some. the Cuba picture i took delibratley, as well as the first picture shown. the rest were pretty much random picture shots i took. im not sure if china was there or not, i have a horrid memory. the people putting it together acknowledged that they couldnt do evey nation the US has intervened, as there have been oh so many.
