I've been meaning to post a link to these comrades ever since I met them at a show at the infoshop in Lawrence, KS (http://www.lawrencesolidarity.org/), but I suppose with the Lakota Freedom movement on the rise it'd be rather timely. This is a group of radical emcees and activists who are currently touring and promoting their music around my area. I know some of you will be interested!

Check out the track "Solidarity", it's amazing. They've also got a terrific song called "It's War!" set to the beat from Nas and Olu Dara's joint "Briding the Gap", as well as a few other songs set to popular songs, even one on a Lil Jon instrumental (they told me the crowds love 'em). I'm not sure if they've released any albums for sale yet, but if you like what you hear please support real hip hop! I've also got a mixtape on my computer with 20 tracks or so if people are interested in hearing more than what's on Myspace.

Here's their site:

BLACKFIRE's style encompasses traditional Native American, Punk-Rock and “Alter-Native” music and bears strong socio-political messages regarding government oppression, relocation of indigenous people, eco-cide, genocide, domestic violence and human rights
