George Bush moved quickly to speak out against the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. He said 'The United States of America strongly condemns the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, it was carried out by extremists who seek to undermine Pakistani democracy.' Of course, George. We've seen much in the Bush administration. Bush has taken the US from being a major superpower to the ONLY superpower. Its influence is felt everywhere and yet its responsibility is nowhere.
Bush says he 'condemns the attacks' - he may as well give the people who did this a slap on the wrist and send the naughty scamps on their way. It is not enough to condemn the attacks - after all the destruction he has caused in the world surely now is the time to show some emotion, he needs to 'hate' the attacks, to 'deplore' them - to condemn them (and how religious of him(!)). Witness the splendour and power of the bourgeoisie and its total grey emotionless, its total apathy to anything that doesn't actually undermine its economic domination.
He seems to be living in a total fantasy world (if this fantasy involves him controlling and dominating the entire world it isn't too far from reality). There is no democracy in Pakistan to undermine, Bhutto was a prospective democratic leader, and even then a LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC leader - hardly democratic at all. By blowing up Bhutto they have not blown up democracy, they have blown up the small glimmer of hope they had of relief from Musharraf's military dictatorship. Bhutto was essentially a good person, misguided like most liberal democratic leaders, but still had her heart in the right place. But we have to ask ourselves, whom would Bush have more control over, the fascistic Musharraf or the liberal Bhutto? Is Bush condemning an attack on Pakistani freedom; or is he condemning an attack on a prospective sphere of influence? Truth be told Bush probably had plans to control Bhutto's government like he effectively controls, or at least influences, every 'democracy' in the world. The emotionless reponse is, in my view, simply because while he has lost Pakistan Bush can easily dominate any other world 'democracy'.
People of Pakistan: don't make the mistake of running out of the clutches of Musharraf and into the arms of America. It's a bear hug that will crush you to death.
