NEW INDEPENDENT LEFTIST

my politics are of the independent left, ie socialism, anarcho-synd., libertarian left, etc. i believe all hierarchical structures must be justified/questioned and "capitalism"/slavery must be abolished. i hope there is a place for me here, as i am not a marxist-leninist. i feel as though my beliefs are sort of on par with many of you, though. i will always be open-minded about the issue of communism or what i would call state-socialism and am looking to not only engage with like-minded people but those on the left that i disagree with. i look forward to it.

Oh, fantastic to have you aboard, then. I consider myself an anarcho-syndicalist as well, so, don't worry, you aren't alone. Not everyone on this board is a Leninist.

I love seeing that word, "independent," used on Leftist boards. It pains me that we actually have to identify ourselves as independent when freedom of thought and the free flow of the individual's being within the collective is exactly what I consider leftism to be about! Alas, we're late to the game. All sorts of Leftism have been tried and fucked up royally and rehashed and fucked up again and tried again and reinstated and evolved and there's just so many different way to be a lefty!!!

So people seem to naturally assume a) by "leftist" you're a Marxist and b) if you're a Marxist, that you belong to a Vanguard party. I'm definately down with anarco-syndicalist (that term always makes me think of the peasant scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail!) in many of its manifestations, but have a lot of Marxism in myself as well. I'm not definitive on any particular "-ism" either, I'm starting to think I should make one up just so I can answer the question without delving into a long discussion about "what I am"! (I mean, I'm myself, right?)

Anyway, good to see you. I write a blog about being a "nomad" as I've come to call it, and seeing how I work with a lot of socialists and communists (and lately some anarchists), that's not always understood. I'd love to see what you think of what I've written thus far... I haven't given my tough love to anarchism yet, but soon enough haahaha. My main goal is to be constructive and not divisive. god knows we already have enough of that going on, right?? So my blog is "You Belong Here", and it's linked in my signature if you're interested.
