Well, the title says it all. I've heard practically nothing about the country since the maoists laid down their weapons and now today I read on Wikipedia that they are about to abolish the monarchy.
Anyone with more detailed facts on Nepal?

So basically, the Maoists were fighting a People's War in the countryside but they laid down their arms and joined a new goverment. They demanded that the monarchy be abolished, that Nepal be declared a Republic, and they demanded puportional representation. They stalled elections to a new Constituent Assembly that were scheduled to be held in November. They will be held in April instead.
Basically, the Maoists control 80% of the country and they are pushing hard to abolish the monarchy and continue the communist revolution there.
