can the american comrades on these boards please tell me, what it is really like to be an american worker?
i've read the history of the american working class and its revolutionary traditions, the wobblies, the teamsters rebellion etc.
i've read numerous articles from the cwi, the campaign for a fifth international, the swp etc.
i believe, from the tone of these articles and the history of the american working class, that they are the most likely of the international working classes, to acheive socialism. a proud history of self organisation and armed struggle.
BUT, that is only book learned opinion.
reality, tends to be somewhat different.
enlighten me, please.

From my experience, the American working class will not be the first class to start an insurrection. Although the American working class used to be a very violent and organized class, the days of that seem to be over. Laws protecting striking workers and workers rights are not very strong and employers are very hostile toward unions. In many industries the American working class is a transient class as job security is practically non-existent. Generally, the fellow workers I've spoken too are not interested in striking or starting a union.
