Tell me what you think. Will the Maoist rebels gain power in Nepal? And will this lead to more revolutions in Asia? Or are they merely compromising with the powers that be when they should be waging a violent revolution until the one-party state is established?

Not necessarily. But it does reflect the CPN(M)'s influence as it was the one pushing for an immediate decleration of republic. I imagine (hope) that they will win the elections and gain a majority (or at least the largest block of votes) in the new Constituent Assembly. Elections will be held in April.

Regardless if Maoists take power or not, it remains good news they are getting rid off monarchism.
I wish Holland got with the program and did the same.
