Russian experts are in Tehran to install the Tor M1 Air Defense System and train Iranian forces on operating and maintaining the equipment.

Head of the Russian Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation, Mikhail Dmitriev said the Defense System is a surface-to-air short range missile.

Under a US $700 million Iran-Russia contract, Moscow has provided Tehran with the Tor M1 Air Defense System and now sent technicians to supervise the training process, said the Russian official.

Both sides reached an agreement on the issue following the fourth Iran-Russia Joint Defense Cooperation Commission on Dec. 19, 2007.

They are not crap, they're the latest in medium range air defence technology. The first batch actually arrived in Venezuela just a few weeks ago! They're so accurate, they can shoot down individual bombs as they fall. They're meant to accompany tanks in action, providing a defensive anti-air screen, thus not repeating the way Iraq's tanks were massacred by US aircraft in Gulf Wars I and II.

I wouldn't say Russia is arming them,
it's more like trading.
a lot of money is paid for this weaponry you know.
if not russia there would be other party's to buy weaponry from.

though ofcourse Russia in this way supports Iran, I don't blame them.
I'd even prefer China to Israel or America.
