There's a new article on the Internationalist Group website about the Writers Guild strike and the scab line of the SEP/WSWS: check it out at http://www.internationalist.org/wgastrike0712.html .

Wishing everyone a jolly Issac Newton Day:

Rejoice ye merry physicists, let nothing you dismay,
Remember Issac Newton was born this very day,
To save us all from medieval science in decay

O tidings of fluxions and rays, fluxions and rays
O tidings of fluxions and rays!

Pay no attention to the flat-earth types trying to co-opt December 25th for religious purposes. No one who believes in "intelligent falling" instead of gravity should be taken seriously.

Of what interest is it for the working class whether the Writers Guild wins the demand for residual fees? It's not a wage. It's an "intellectual property" dispute.

It's about whether the writers get fair compensation for what they produce. Screenwriters are proletarians too, and their struggles should be supported. Just because they aren't big burly factory workers in overalls doesn't mean they don't deserve our support. True, this is not a very "radical" or class conscious strike, but not very many in America are. Regardless of whether the workers in question are putting forward an advanced radical line or not, we should support the worker's struggle.
