Hey to all comrades. I saw the music section and wanted to make this thread. I know that metal sometimes promotes rightist garbage but I can see many leftist and occationaly far leftist metalheads. Anyone here who likes Heavy/Thrash/Speed/Death/Black etc metal?

I am a huge underground metal fan but I also like mainstream stuff like heavy metal. My fav bands are Sepultura (old), Sarcofago, Sextrash, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Dorsal Atlantica etc. Anyone else?

Yeah i like most sub-genres of metal and my favourite metal bands include: Burzum (Yeah i know that Varg is a white Nationalist but he still makes some fucking good music), Darkthrone, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Metal Church, Metallica (Only the early stuff as anything after the black album is shit IMO), WASP and Venom.

I like quite a lot of metal. Just plain old heavy metal, whether Sabbath or Maiden, will do quite well. Other than that, I can appreciate some power/speed metal, but the way it has been going lately is not very pleasant. Unless one happens to like Dragonforce. :-/

Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath are pretty good, but I'm not really into metal that much. I'm more a classic rock person.

I'm a die-hard metal fan. I like thrash and death metal and grindcore. My favorite bands would be Metallica, Slayer, Death, Sepultura, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Deicide, DRI, Discharge, Suicidal and lots more. Though I have always liked what others would call 'extreme' music I do also like Guns n' Roses and Iron Maiden.

I enjoy death (brutality, Death, malevolent creation, dissection, hypocrisy, vader, krabathor) and black metal (more exactly, depressive black metal such as xasthur, nortt, black funeral; other bands such as negura bunget, inmortal, early dimmu burgir).

I listen to a lot of sub genres of metal (hardcore, metalcore, etc.) but not much straight up metal. SOAD is pretty much it.

Oh and that song by Iron maiden that Coheed and Cambria covers...

-core is not a subgenre of metal -_- It's a bastardization of metal. :P

I love metal. Thrash, death, doom, black, power, speed, folk, prog, NWOBHM... everything! :P

Hardcore isn't a sub-genre of metal at all. In fact, thrash metal is a combination of hardcore punk and speed metal, so you could say that thrash is a sub-genre of hardcore. I will listen to most metal except for death metal. One of the main criteria that has to be met in terms of music I listen to is whether or not I can understand what the singer is saying without reading the lyrics, and thus I don't really like death metal because of the deep growling.

...or you could say that thrash is a subgenre of speed metal (which, in general, it is closer to :P)

But we're getting off-topic.

I mostly listen to melodic death metal like Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, and Kalmah (best metal EVER).

I also love Finnish folk metal such as Finntroll and Folkearth.

Also a fun little fact, for the Metalocalypse fans, the name of the grocery store that Dethclok shops at is named "Fintrolls".

I used to listen to metal way back in junior high. Frankly, i know of no far left bands yet now I listen to more industrial, so if your into that, the most mainstream bands are notoriously left. Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails are all VERY left.

I listen to all that weird scenekid metal shit, but consider it a vice.

Cattle Decapitation is the only one I can really think of. Lord, I miss being in seventh grade and listening to dying fetus on the bus ride home *waxes nostalgic*

Yes. I'm especially fond of blues-derived metal- so doom and related genres. Orange Goblin, Electric Wizard, Candlemass. I also like instrumental stuff like Sunn O))) and Pelican. Plus thrash like Sepultura, a bit of Metallica, and THE HAUNTED.

Oh and SOAD.

Metal - whatever flavour - is fucking awesome. I can listen to really cheesy hair metal shit one day and later listen to hard as fuck black metal. Currently I really love Bal-Sagoth.

I'm old enough to remember when Candlemass first became prominent in the late eighties. The song 'mirror mirror' blew my friends and I away. I must look them up again.

Indeed Carcass and now with them being reformed I have to get the money so I can go to Wacken metal festival were they are already announced.

Been into metal since my early teens, listen to most subgenres but mostly Death Metal, Thrash and Grindcore. But there is always sure to be bands in most of the different shades of metal worth listening too. Have to admit though that I find most of the new stuff boring with some exceptions of course

Pretty much anyone I've played that song for has fallen in love. Except BGM. :(

I love metal, but its got to be heavy, can't stand any of that soft garbage. Favourite bands are Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Dethklok, Dimmu Borgir, Mastadon, and Rob Zombie.

Another neat fact is the episode where Nathan Explosion keeps having weird dreams, and the burger joint he works at in one of his dreams is Dimmu Burger (like the death metal band Dimmu Borgir). Metalocalypse is awesome.

Extreme music is pretty much the only thing I listen to. I listen to the Dan and what not, but its pretty much all Metal.

My favorites being grindcore, deathgrind, brutal death, goregrind, folk, and straight up old school death metal.

Dying Fetus, Vader, Circle of Dead Children, Day Everything Became Nothing, and what not.

Hell yeah! I listen to about anything, but I love Black Sabaath & especially "No more tears".
I listen to that song every day almost! It's weird, because then I turn right around & listen to Spanish Guitar & Irish folk songs.:D

On my rock radio station, there was this song I really loved that was all in German;
one of the lines was "Du hast nech" (forgive my poor German spelling if that's incorrect) does anyone know what I'm talking about?:o

Mujer Libre

That's most likely Rammstein, the line is "Du hast Mich" and the song is "Du hast" from their album Sehnsucht.

Fuck aye! Metal's not the only thing I listen to, but it is the only thing that can drag me into work in the morning/afternoon. Most recent discovery is pirate metal band Alestorm.

I'm a bit gutted thqat there's such a dearth of commie metal bands. I would LOVE to hear a metal version of some of the red army choir songs.

Love metal. Although not strictly a metalhead, I've seen a fair few bands including Metallica, Machine Head and Slayer. Napalm Death's early stuff is awesome too.

Love metal! favourite bands would be Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian.

As for leftist metal, I remember seeing a Metal version of the Internationale on youtube. I think it was from a chinese or maybe a japanese band, tried to find it just now, but I cant remember what the band name was.

I saw Sunn 0))) live a few months ago with Jesu. I like the Sunn, especially what they did with Boris, but they are hard to listen to for an hour straight.

I listen to metal:

Old Man Gloom, Cult of Luna, Mouth of the Architect, Neurosis, Isis.

Definitely. I felt lightheaded after a while, and was still resonating when I got home. And that was after a late night kebab stop!

Boris played the same gig, and I actually liked them better live.

I really like Cathedral, if you count them.
