The best thing to speak out against would be that the war is not a war against terror but a war for oil. Highlight points such as the fact that there is no firm proof of weapons manufacture in Iraq, the UN hasn't backed it. The fact that it is a war for oil, that many people would die. That the US is not reacting to North Korea as they have no reserves such as oil. Have a look around the Politics forum and Soc vs Cap forum.
As for placment the "Practice" forum would be best.

Good Luck with the speech.

I think you should go up to the podium in full Soviet army gear, burn the U$A flag and shout general obscenities about the president and his family. Then you could finish by throwing a big bucket of pigs blood all over the front row and scream "YOU MUUURDERERS!!!!! FUCK YOU ALL TO HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL!" as they drag you off.

OK, so it may not really convey any coherant message, but at least they'd remember it forever

I totally agree with Dhul Fiqar.....they would probably have nightmares about it for ages....but I thin happyguy's idea would strike more into what you're trying to do.....

Feel free to use any of this:

Iraq: War Is Not an Option

It cannot be denied that there should be a regime change in Iraq; Saddam Hussein is a ruthless, merciless leader who treats his people cruelly and is a possible direct risk to other countries, as well as destabilising World politics in general. However, the American President’s plans of a military attack on the country are not a realistic option.

We must take into consideration the conditions for this possible war: Iraq has once again opened its borders to weapons inspectors and this is what the UN demanded. The world’s largest superpower should surely respect the UN, otherwise what kind of example is it giving to the rest of the world? It is clear that other countries are agreeing with the US simply because they cannot afford not to, America has become the big bully in the playground of the world.

What are Bush’s motives? They aren’t as gallant as he would have us believe, this man does not want Saddam crushed for the simple reason that he is a bad man and abuses his station, he has other reasons that mean more to him than that:

In the Israel and Palestine question, Bush has clearly sided with Sharon and the Israelis, donating an estimated $2 billion a year in military aid to the Israelis (to put it into perspective this is twice the amount needed to give everyone in Africa clean water). However, Saddam is a considerable thorn in his side because he, like all the Muslim countries in the Middle East, is supporting the Palestinians.

Secondly, oil: Bush has it in is his blood. Before the president started his political career, he tried doing business in oil in Texas and various big companies helped him out, due to his father, and he still remembers the people who helped him along by giving them lots of lovely state money. Iraq has lots of oil, and America is using this with which to bargain. Russia has big deals with Iraq over oil, and is only willing to support or at least not to oppose the States because they do not want to lose their deals.

Finally, Bush needs to ensure that he survives the next election. Americans in general like the idea of throwing their weight around by going to war and showing how they are the toughest and best. Bush also wants to distract his potential voters from the increasingly evident corporate scandals, back home in the US of A. His dodgy dealings from the 80’s are coming back to haunt him, as is the drug use and womanizing that he indulged in from college up until he was 40. This guy cannot even keep the same story running, his lies are always different. But still he’s trying to keep this quiet from the American Citizens, and killing two birds with one stone by attempting to finish of what his dad started in the Gulf, after all we can’t let the Bush name lie in disrepute, can we!

Tony Blair is agreeing with Bush so he can carry on strutting around the World Stage, people can’t forget his existence if he’s shoving his oar in over this issue. However it isn’t all bad concerning our favourite procrastinator, he has acted as a moderator and without him Bush would never have turned to the UN for approval.

Blair is intent on keeping our so-called “special” relationship with the US in tact, although we never seem to get anything out of it and the US gets us as its lap dog to trail around on a leash, doing whatever it wants. However, this does not excuse him and we still cannot go to war, even if it would be worse with Bush on his own making the plans. That is why over 350,000 people gathered in London in September to express their disgust with propositions of war.

Besides the unethical reasons of these leaders there are other reasons that we should not go to war, simply because it is war.

This war, should it take place, would also completely destabilize the Middle East. Jordan among other countries relies heavily on Iraq for its oil. If a war started the East would be split between the countries with American airbases and those opposing military action; these countries opposing a war are suspicious of Bush and believe he may have plans to install a puppet regime to control oil in Iraq and then spread round the Middle east to gain more and more control of the area’s oil. These countries also call for Bush to look towards Israel and Palestine, to sort out that situation.

War in general is horrible, imagine bombs dropping on the homes of you and your neighbours, the male members of your family being put in the army, you being put in the army. Boys as young as eight go off to fight for their despotic leader, victims to his whims when they have committed no crime. We all know that Saddam’s power must end, but we should also know that we could not do it by entering into a war.

What would the benefits of going to war be? Can we guarantee that another leader like Saddam will not rise up? No, we cannot and there will be no benefit from this war, there will only be death and disruption. The situation in the Middle East is critical enough right now, we do not need to start something new in the hopes of distracting the world from the already existing problems; we need first to deal with the conflict and tension in the area.

I am appealing to your humanity to stand against the idea of military action, if we allow ourselves to be dragged into a war we will be guilty for the deaths of countless people: Iraqi civilians, Iraqi soldiers and Allied soldiers. It is evident that Saddam could protect himself form attack, not his nation perhaps, but himself. This is blatantly clear; we cannot let our nation go blundering into a war that will cause infinitely more harm than good. Look at the evidence, it all adds up; Osama Bin Laden was never caught, what makes us think we can get Saddam Hussein?

Iraq: war is not an option.

Oh, and just out of curiousity, how did you get this wonderful opportunity?
