Out of the Silence Conference
'Out of the Silence' is a weekend of workshops, discussions and performances, wom*ns and trans focussed, in Melbourne on the weekend of December 14-16, 2007.
We would like to create a safer space for wom*n and trans to gather and discuss; inspire; challenge; self represent; create and craft ideas to challenge the world systems of oppression and injustice, and have heaps of fun while doing it!
Some ideas we have come up with for the weekend are wom*ns/trans health, DIY porn, body image, survivor support, consent, gendered terminology and language, gender identity, stuff we don't talk about like eating disorders, abortions, sexuality, feminism and trans, being an activist of colour, making pissers, sex work and basically whatever people want or contribute or think of or need or desire.
Its what we make it into! So, let's all combine our ideas to make an awesome weekend for Wom*n, Transgendered and Genderqueer Folk as well as Partners, Supporters, Families, etc.
