The so-called "Communists" in Sudan have demonstrated to be traitors who act not in the interests of their country but abide by the demands of their imperialist sockpuppeteers. It's traitorous how these "Communists" are advocating an invasion of their country by the "United Nations." The Sudanese "Communists" should be regarded as enemies unless they are prepared to join the national bourgeois revolution under way in Sudan.

The duty of all peace activists is to agitate against an invasion of Sudan by American troops cloaked under a UN umbrella. Progressive democratic organizations should not be duped by false and misleading accounts of the situation in Darfur that are disseminated in order to justify the recolonization of the first Black African country to break free from imperialist enslavement. Anti-Sudan propagandists should be aggressively challenged, refuted, and discredited. The propaganda campaign against Sudan is wholly insincere in that there is an absence of corresponding outrage over the Christian Tigrayan genocide against the people of Somalia.

The livestock herds are reduced and the camels are in poor condition. Normally, at this time of year, the camels would be at the desert edge, eating the succulent jizu grasses that grow there. The entire desert edge is controlled by the rebels so the herds cannot move north. The Ereigat lost both herders and camels at the hands of the rebels in the early days of the war. As the dry season progresses early next year, neither can the herds cannot move south, because of the insecurity in South Darfur. Confined to much restricted pastures, the camels’ health is suffering. Also, the best marketing routes—across the desert to Libya and Egypt—are closed, and the road to the market in al Fashir is plagued by bandits and the raiders of the SLA-Minawi group. Misrih is poor. The school is dilapidated. The young men are unemployed. The cost of maintaining their (fairly old) landcruisers has drained much of their income.

Since the end of the major offensives in 2004, reports of violent deaths are compiled by the UN on a regular basis, though not published. There are peaks and lulls but the reports—which cover all significant incidents—indicate between 6,000 and 7,000 fatalities over the last two and a half years. The last three major spikes in violent deaths have been intra-Arab fighting (Terjam versus Mahariya militia) and the defeat of Sudan government forces by rebel groups in north Darfur.

Blackwater has been agitating for some time to be sent into Darfur to end the conflict because not only do they know they'll have massive support in doing it (unlike Iraq), but this gives the U.S. access to Sudan's massive oil stocks. They have been pimping the success of Executive Outcomes in helping end the Sierra Leone Civil War in trying to convince people that sending in a small mercenary force is better than sending in the UN. So, on this point, "Comrade" (you haven't the slightest bit of chagrin I maintain in saying that), you are correct that the US does have oil interests if they intervene.

But on everything else, you are a complete hack. You are saying that it's okay for men to be killed and their wives and children raped, just as long as the UN doesn't intervene. The numbers you gave are exactly the same as those given by the Sudanese government; the government that's committing this fucking genocide! The UN has given numbers like 200,000, while many NGOs have pinned it as high as 400,000. It's absolutely disgusting that you can defend what amounts to a new Holocaust simply because you hate the UN. What's next; Iran doesn't hang gays? North Korea doesn't have death camps? Suck a tail pipe, you Stalinist.

I thought communists were supposed to act in the interests of the working class, and not in the interests of their country.

All to frequently though those who call themselves communists end up supporting one imperialist gang or the other.
