Great sketch and welcome.

Why do I always see pictures of this comrade? (male teenage hormones? :P )

She isn't even that good looking (bloodshot eyes - pot smoker?! )...bit hard to tell in a mask though.

lol I'm actually surprised that people made the connection between the sketch and the photo so quickly. I guess I'll take that as a good sign lol

actually I liked the photo a lot not necessarily because of the girl's physical beauty (i'll agree that she's nothing amazingly great to look at), but because i found it was an interesting contrast between the generally conceived notion of what a riot is (a chaotic mass of enraged-to-the-point-of-madness trouble-making kids violently clashing with cops, ect. ect.) and the feeling conveyed by the photo. it's just one person, she's reasonably non-descript and could be anyone, and most of all -- she seems very calm and collected, but not in a robotic kind of way. she's just a rational human being... in a black bloc (well, that's an assumption -- i don't know for certain), which mainstream society as a whole doesn't seem capable of believing (when my mother saw the G8 protests on TV this summer, she commented how they were 'nothing but troublemakers.' the photo seems to contradict that).

anyway, that's just why i sketched it. at first i wasn't sure if it'd come out very good, since it's my first attempt to draw anything more than some spiced up stick figures. i probably could have done better with her hair and scarf, and probably the eyebrows too.

Good work comrade. Welcome to the board.

Did you do this by hand and scan it, or do it on the computer? Either way, you did an excellent job on the gradients. It has a very good look to it.

I took the sketch as a comment on the duality of human beings. A riot can be a violent, torturous thing in which many people are slain, but it can also be a beautiful thing in which a new society may be created. In the same manner, men are capable of great cruelty and at the same time great beauty. Radicals fighting cops in the streets are not monsters, they're people, just like this girl.

And I think she's hot

Why, is she a comrade of yours? :o

Is she you?!

I mean, I would fuck her, but I wouldn't paint a picture of her!

Fuck comrade, you have a bit too much time on your hands. :P

Anyhow, do you think I would be here if I had some weed (well I might, I would probably just be less legible)?! :redstar2000:
