I just want to say that I think the rally went very well today. It looked to me like close to 15,000 people or maybe even more! This is a tremendous success in my opinion as past demonstrations in Toronto have been generally below 6,000 people.

Young Left members marched in solidarity with the Philippine Solidairty Group, sending a strong message that U.S. Imperialism - & the threat of imperialism from any country - is a common enemy and problem and it's the challenge of smashing global imperialism that we are taking.

We demand that the Canadian Imperialist state not undertake in "Dubyah's" war against Iraq. We demand U.S., Canadian, British & imperialist allies hands off Iraq, but we also aim to overthrow the ruling powers who make our countries war machines in the first place. We don't want to pretend that everything is going to be ok if Jean Chretien doesn't allow himself to be a U.S. puppet for a change... Jean Chretien would still be no friend of the working class & not participating in a war doesn't mean he is going to change the infrastructure of our Canadian society to reflect the needs of the working class.

Canada is a country which supplies weapons of "mass destruction" to countries such as the Philippines which are used to kill our Comrades in the international struggle for emancipation... This is something we simply can not stand for, and the only way to stop this international state terrorism is to dissmantle the powers that control it - from the inside. And like one YL comrade said: "I might be a Canadian but I am not proud of being Canadian". I think this should be the feeling of all Canadians untill we stop participating in imperialist profit-driven wars and concentrate on the creation of a just and egalitarian society.

To our comrades worldwide, whether you are in the Philippines, Colombia, Iraq, Cuba, or the United States; we stand with you in Solidarity in the struggle for emacipation of the human race and the toppling of imperialism!

To our fellow Canadians, we urge you to take up the call of the people of Iraq, who don't want war on the country... A people who have been suffering thanks to sanctions laid down apon them.... sanctions which are a type of war itself since it, causes untold damage and suffering apon the Iraqi people just as any bomb or chemical weapon would. Take up the call of the Proletarians and the Peasants of the Philippines who are faced with the brutal repression of state troops trained by the U.S. and using Canadian sold weapons. The Palistinian people in their struggle for soverignty need also to be heard. The people of Colombia, with the largest guerrilla force on the planet whom only want to build a better society and a better life in their country. The people of Afghanistan whose war torn country has been staged as a battlefield by imperialist powers twice in the past 3 decades without regard to human life in the area. Do not let this people go unheard, justice must be done! Let us build a workers state as a base for the advancement of International Socialism.

Capitalism had a begginging: The fall of feudalism. Capitalism will soon have an ending: The International Proletarian Revolution!

U.S. Troops OUT of the Philippines! NO to plan Colombia! HANDS OFF IRAQ!
